I haven't heard much about all the fights Diaz has won or how he tore through the rest of the division to get his crack at the crown. But why get caught up in details at this point? Diaz has talked his way into a title shot while Johny Hendricks, who already beat two former number one contenders during his five-fight winning streak (with three violent finishes) settles for Carlos Condit.

"Bigg Rigg" explains why (via Fight World):

"I don't trash talk because I have too much respect for everybody. But, there is a point in time where enough is enough. If I get through Carlos Condit, [Georges St. Pierre] has nothing to stand on - he can't go after anyone else except for me and I can't wait for that day. I can trash talk, but I don't know GSP. I can say he is this, this, this and this, but it doesn't mean it's true. Know what I mean? I could easily do that, but I don't want to be that kind of douchebag. His main little quote is, 'You've never faced anyone like me.' Bullshit. You've never face anyone like ME, that's why he didn't want to take the fight."

A lot of mixed martial arts (MMA) fans think Hendricks is full of hot air.

Some fighters do, too, including Nick Diaz, who told media members he didn't think anyone wanted to see St. Pierre fight the bearded brawler, which gave Hendricks the impression that Diaz isn't much of an MMA fan.

"Obviously, [Nick Diaz] has never seen me fight, because I knock people out. What does Diaz do? He talks trash, throws his hands up and that's it. I knock people out. When's the last time any of you have seen me use my wrestling? Six, seven fights ago? I used it a little bit on Josh Koscheck, but not much. That's one of my attributes that nobody's seen. For him to say [nobody wants to see Hendricks vs. GSP], he's not an MMA fan."

Fitch and Koschek and Shields and Hughes and Trigg could all wrestle pretty good too. He wont be able to stop the takedowns against GSP and he won't be able to land those big shots. St. Pierre is on a different level than Fitch and Kampmann

That is very noticeable with all of the high level WW's fighting that night...simple scenario: He losses by SD, Ellenberger lands a big ko and Diaz losses a decision. Diaz talks up Hendricks trash and there you have it folks.

To be fair, Hendricks was a much more accomplished wrestler than any of those guys including Kos. That being said, he hasn't shown it in his MMA career and has been taken down several times by lesser fighters than GSP.

Oh the irony of this statement.

Coming out and calling other fighters names doesn't exactly make you look like a paragon of good behavior.

Exactly. Saying things like "What the fuck does Diaz do?" and claiming he only talks shit kind of puts you in the pot/kettle/black scenario. Sounds like sour grapes to me.
