If you asked most fans, Brendan Schaub was supposed to meet Lavar Johnson in the center of the octagon on Saturday at uFC 157 and start trading bombs with him until one of them was no longer awake. Instead, Schaub got "cerebral."

I can see why he played it safe but he didn't make any new fans and he sure as hell didn't make his boss happy. Not a goid thing when your boss is DW

I think if he was going to go the route he did he should have been more active. Lavar has proven the ground game isn't really in his skill set. A win is a win though in mma and he needed it badly.

That fight was very dangerous for him and probably a must win as well. He fought very smart and attacked lavar at his weak point. Not the most exciting fight, but not the most boring either. He didn't want to stand up for even a second with him. I think it's a combination of him being intimidated by lavar's brute power and not having confidence in himself.

I've always been fairly impressed with schaub's stand up, he just needs to find that medium in which he is not too aggressive or either too timid. Confidence is a big issue as well.

I have no problems at all with the way Schaub beat Lavar. He needed the win badly and did whatever he could to get it. If he had fought Big Ben the same way he wouldnt have got knocked out like he did.

Glad to see Brendan back in the win column

well to be fair, Lavar's sub defense was exactly like his striking offense: punch him in the face.

Brendan Schaub is a BJJ Purple belt and he couldn't submit the dude with the worst submission defense not just in the company, but perhaps in the entire UFC.
