It costs money to keep a website in operation, you either help pay or you suffer by dealing with somebody paying to keep the site up. It's an advertisement...just ignore it man.

a pop u for every single time I tap my mouse is worse then porn hub. Not to mention I used to be able to get my news no problem on here and lately theres no news. I go to junkie and theres 4 or 5 stories no one posted. I dont play the game im here for the conversation and to be honest its not what it used to be. If its going to be this way no worries ill move on.

It is what it is, man. The alternative is that the site is shut down because it runs in the red.

Just so we are clear, is there an issue with the pop ups or is this just something people have to deal with from here on out? I only asked because this is really excessive, I have literally closed the same pop up a dozen times in the last 5 minutes browsing threads. Pop ups are a part of life when it comes to free content but there has to be some kind of limit to it for a reputable site like the playground.

I completely understand that the site needs to make money and I'm all for it, and quite frankly a good pop up blocker will solve the issue for most but what does concern me is what this will do to new or prospective users because it is incredibly frustrating and I can't help but feel that it takes away from the site.

Again, not really complaining. It really is what it is but I just don't want to see it hurt the PG's growth and reputation.

Opinion over/Pop up blocker activated

Adrenaline perhaps put it best, well said.

The irony is that I had to go through 2 pop-up to give him props and reply.

I run a few websites myself, and I understand it costs money for hosting etc, but this site already had excessive advertising before this increase in pop-up bollocks. I can't use it at work because my IT dept
picked up porn trackers from this fuckin place, so thanks for making me explain that to my employers.

Bottom line is the adverts are excessive- I can't always block them as I'm on a tablet etc.

The 'tough shit' attitude ain't gonna work - if something doesn't change I'm off - there are other sites with a lot less advertising, somehow they manage.

If it helps a friend of mine is starting to get into mma and I told him about this site. He uses IE and had the same problem but once he switched to chrome the pop ups stopped.
