Former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nate Marquardt (32-11-2 MMA, 10-4 UFC) will meet Jake Ellenberger (28-6 MMA, 7-2 UFC) at UFC 158, a source close to the event told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) on Monday evening.

Marquardt fills a spot left vacant by Johny Hendricks, who was tapped to meet onetime UFC title challenger Carlos Condit when Rory MacDonald was forced to withdraw from the event due to injury.

Marquardt vs. Ellenberger still serves on the March 16 event's pay-per-view main card, which follows prelims on FX and Facebook.

UFC 158 takes place at Montreal's Bell Centre.

If Ellenberger gets past Nate I'd say he deserves a top 5 guy. Shame his fight with Hendricks fell through it would have been a good fight for him but these are two solid fights from Rory being injured!

I agree with you guys. That biggest part of it is the "IF" he gets past Nate. I don't see it happening. Nate will bounce back after getting chopped down with leg kicks in his last fight.

I like both of the new match-ups a lot.

That said, I don't know where a win over Hendricks would put Condit. He can't challenge GSP again so soon.

I like Marquardt-Ellenberger a lot, though. I think Marquardt is the better fighter and should take this. Then, a rematch with Maia?

I love the depth at WW

A win for Condit would eliminate Hendricks from the title picture & more importantly open the door for a A. SILVA super fight. I say Carlos beating Johnny would be best case senerio for the ufc as far as setting up that fight between gsp & Anderson. That would allow for Maia or Tarrec to work on their resume for a potential title fight with gsp while he battles silva. If Hendricks beats Carlos then I think the ufc would delay the super fight because Hendricks case for a title shot would be to large to just ignore.

Montreal dodged bullets with nate and tj as replacements a month out.
I like the nate vs Jake pick. Just got a hell of a lot harder
Nate did say he wanted to be on this card not surprised

If another welter gets injured I bet Woodley will step in
