UFC president Dana White told the media last night that they were planning for Josh Barnett to meet Junior dos Santos in his return bout. Unfortunately though, Barnett passed on the UFC's contract offer.

It would have been a tough fight for Barnett.

Barnett doesn't want to fight a top ranked opponent he just wants to get paid the big bucks to beat up on lesser competition

this could just be Dana spewing shit like he normally does. If this was the case though, a win over JDS could very well have put him right in line to fight for the title

My question is: Are negotiations completely dead now, or is there still a chance they work things out? I'd really like to see Barney make one last run in the UFC, and I think it's a foregone conclusion that pro wrestling is the sticking point here that no one is willing to talk about on the UFC's or Barney's end. I'm with mr smiley, I want to see what Barney has to say. There just aren't many good HW fights for any top level fighter outside of the UFC right now. It would be a shame to not get to see Barney try his hand against Mir or JDS or Roy, etc. before he hangs em up.
