Now that Strikeforce is over and done with, their roster of fighters can look forward to competing inside the Octagon and enjoying all the perks that come with it. The UFC is not wasting any time matching many of them up against some of the best fighters that they have to offer. One of those fighters is Josh Thomson who will be welcomed back to the organiation with a fight against a former number one contender. Thomson will be facing former UFC lightweight title challenger Nate Diaz in San Jose on UFC on Fox 7 this May. It will be like old times as the event will be held in San Jose, the site of so many Strikeforce cards. Taking on a quality opponent like Diaz is something that Thomson asked for. As the old saying goes, ask and you shall receive.

diaz by sub. thomson is no where near the top of the division, i dont care that he just fought melendez. i could see this possibly going to a decision, but i would think that it would a heavily one sided UD for diaz. i do hope it turns out to be a better fight than i expect.

This will be a great fight. I think Diaz is a better fighter on the ground. Which is where he will take the fight. Diaz will either pull off a sub, or beat him up and get a UD.

Thomson is no joke, but I don't think he could beat him anywhere. If he keeps switching things up with leg kicks and take downs, that could count as winning the standup, but I think Diaz would out box him handily.

Diaz is gonna be hungry as shit coming off his loss against Henderson. Nate will put a Gomi-Cerrone-Miller level ass whooping on "The Punk". Maybe a box-you-up then-choke-you-unconscious type beating like the one he put on Marcus Davis. Either way, this will be a good one
