Just about two weeks after his successful first title defense, UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson has his next assignment.

Johnson (17-2-1 MMA, 5-1-1 UFC) will face John Moraga (12-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) in April at the TUF 17 Finale in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Review-Journal on Monday first reported the news, and UFC officials later confirmed the matchup.

Sources close to the Johnson camp also confirmed the fight to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). The event takes place at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and airs on FX, FUEL TV and Facebook.

Cole Miller vs. Bart Palaszewski and Justin Lawrence vs. Daniel Pineda have also been booked apparently. This card is already awesome and there are still a bunch of fights to be added. Including the TUF fights.

Moraga is the only guy at this moment in time you can argue deserves a title shot

Love this fight. Surprised they stuck in on a TUF Finale instead of a FUEL TV, FOX or even co-main eventing a PPV.
Either way this should be entertaining as hell, always love me some DJ

I'm up for it. I don't usually support title shots after only 1-2 wins but since it's a new division I don't mind.

What makes you say the UFC keeps them from fighting?

Feek bad for Cariaso. When he dropped down to flyweight and faced Moraga on the FaceBook prelim...he was 4-1, with his only loss comming by split decision to Mayday Macdonald...a fight most media outlets (liek Sherdog) thought he won.

Now Mayday gets a title shot...and after handing Moraga a beating for two rounds a Guiltoeen sends him back to the bottom and gives Moraga a title shot.

Anyhow, Moraga wins this imo. He's just better. 2-0...if he had fought 6 times he's be 6-0...Moraga wins. Cariaso would win against DJ as well...I see a Morag vs Cariaso rematch for the titel in a about a year.

god this is annoying. im a hardcore fan and idek what john moraga looks like. maybe the ufc should stop putting fights like neer vs mcgee (who were just moved to a main card of some event, or so i just read on another post, even though theyre completely irrelevant) on main cards and take a chance to give new talent some exposure

They're more relevant than you. Pay more attention to the sport, don't blame the UFC for your ignorance.
