Antonio Silva has thrown down the gauntlet to Cain Velasquez, insisting he wants a second crack at the UFC heavyweight champion.

Silva put himself firmly in the mix for a title shot with a dominant win over Alistair Overeem at UFC 156 last weekend, but the memories of his crushing loss to Velasquez last year sit prominent in the memory bank.

The UFC will have the final say on who Velasquez will face, but Silva does not believe he did justice to himself in their previous meeting on account of a nasty cut he picked up early in the fight.

I'd like too see them have a couple more fights first before they face each other, maybe silva vs winner of Struve/hunt?

It's weird to me because we saw Bigfoot takeout Reem and Cain takeout BF but I think style wise Reem may still take Cain but not JDS

he would get murdered again... Velasquez is just on another level after he lost to JDS the 1st time. it is gonna take a guy whole can actual stop a TD. as far as the BJJ guys at HW, i don't think they have the wrestling to take cain down and cain as really fast hands for a HW. I was really excited to Reem vs cain cause it would be tough for cain to push overeem around but overeem had to go and fuck that up... 2 title shots in row he has fucked up, damm you reem.

I dunno man. I've never for a second thought Overeem would beat Cain. I think he'd get destroyed within 3 rounds. I think JDS would handle him too. Maybe I'm just hating but I've never been impressed with Overeem.

Settle down Silva... knocking out an unroided Overeem isn't that big a deal.

I almost completely agree with this

I do think overeem is good but not good enough to hang with the big boys at HW without PEDs. Same guy who got knocked out by Liddell in Pride. Ah...those were the days...

For me I think it's true that Reem has great trouble with fighters who throw good combinations. That's why I think JDS would take him fairly easy.
For Cain though,I think the champ would get screwed in the clinch. Alistair is like a sniper. He doesn't shoot much but when he does it normally counts.

I have no doubt Cain could take him just as well, I just give the advantage to reem.

Cain is much more aggressive and relentless than Overeem. Imo Bigfoot can't handle that constant pressure and it will be a horrible night yet again.

bigfoot does deserve the title shot because he keeps winning against top contenders but at the same time he has yet to win a round in the ufc. he gets smashed again. but he deserves the shot
