I'm not happy about the other 145ers getting the shaft but I'll be lying if I said I wasn't excited.

If you've proven you're a worthy title contender and can make weight I don't see why a title shot at the weight lower is any different

because fights with Jung and Lamas would be so much more exciting.

Both points are valid, when it comes down to it this is a business decision and one of the reasons why the UFC is and most likely always will make more money than Bellator or any other company for that matter....much better decision the Chael vs Jones IMO.

Because it's more fair, but I guess that's been thrown out the window.
Jung and Lamas are exciting fighters.
I'd rather see Pettis/Henderson 2.

I don't want you to think I'm being a dick here but since when is life fair? I'm down to see Bendo Pettis as well. But there is a list of guys at 155 I would love to se ben fight. The list of 145 fighters I want to see Aldo fight is about 0. I think Jung and Lamas are real good fighters and fun to watch fight, but nothing makes me think either poses the slightest threat to Aldo. Before anyone says it I know its MMA anything can happen.
The weight jumping for name value in title fights isn't going to stop IMO. The only way it could be slowed down is larger gaps between divisions. I would almost be willing to bet the house Edgar is going to be fighting for the 35 title soon enough.

Like others, I don't like guys like Lamas getting skipped over but this matchup is guaranteed to be fireworks. It's hard to be upset about it. What happens if he loses to Aldo though? That Bendo/Pettis rematch goes out the window. I wish they would have waited with making the Melendez fight so they could book Bendo/Pettis and have Aldo fight Lamas.
I'm fine with Lamas vs. The Korean Zombie though. The winner of that fight should have no problem getting a title shot. Especially if they put it on another Fox card.

I wouldn't that fight out even if he loses. depending on how he lost. If its a close fight I can see Joe Rogan saying he had a real close fight with arguably the top p4p fighter in the world at a weight thats really not his natural fight weight. I'm not saying thats what they would do but it also wouldn't suprise me.

I could see that too I guess but it would take a lot of steam out of the rematch personally.

The "F" in UFC doesn't stand for fair.

I love the match, but I am sick of the UFC just making "marketable" fights. It's really bad for the credibility of the sport, in my opinion. Also, why is this not happening until August? Pettis was in the cage for what, a minute against Cerrone? Edgar got way more busted up than Aldo... you would think June or July would work, but whatever....

I don't know man look at the Big money fights Boxing pulls in. I feel like the UFC has more superstars to make these huge fights. I think Patrick Cote getting title shot hurts it far more then the #3 LW moving down to fight the # 1 FW.
