Rankings were generated by a voting panel made up of media members. The media members were asked to vote for who they feel are the top fighters in the UFC by weight-class and pound-for-pound. A fighter is only eligible to be voted on if they are in active status in the UFC and a fighter can only appear in one weight division at a time. The champion and interim champion are considered to be in the top positions of their respective divisions and therefore are not eligible for voting by weight-class. However, the champions can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.

Yeah, I oppose to Melendez as the #2 as well....overall a really good ranking. Now lets see if they use this system to make realistic match ups that pan out to understandable title shots!

No Jacarre? He should be on the mw list hands down, one loss to Rockhold in a close fight, the list is ok I suppose but I would change it just based off statistics. A ranking system shouldn't be made up on a panel of opinions.

This is a bad idea for the UFC. They have rankings, so how are they going to justify fights that don't add up rankings wise e.g. Diaz against GSP instead of Hendricks? I assumed this was why they never had rankings and always talked badly about them.
Addendum: I just read some of the comments. This is some of the worst I've ever seen.
