The UFC will be adding yet another new weight class in the future as the strawweights (115lbs) get their shot in the Octagon.
Now the timing of when that will happen remains a mystery, but UFC President Dana White confirmed when speaking to UFC Tonight on Tuesday that they are planning to add the additional division at some point down the road.
“As the sport continues to grow and we go into these other markets like Latin America, Asia, yes, we will eventually open up a lighter weight division. Which is a great thing. It’s an amazing opportunity for fighters all over the world,” said White.

Man, I'll be honest here, I have absolutely no interest in Strawweights. I have not heard of one fighter in this 115 pound class, nor have I seen any promotion ever have a fight at this class, probably for a reason. This is a bad move for the UFC, I don't want them to become like boxing, just leave the weight classes as is Dana!

I'm happy they're adding this division but I don't see it happening for a while. I mean, they only have 10-15 guys in the Flyweight division right now. They should focus on that first, then the women's division.

No need for another weight class.
There are enough of them right now. Plus you still need to build up flyweight.
115 weight class just sounds crazy, that's what like teenage girls weigh.

Yet fox 6 was a world title fight no mention of 125lbs. If they have a 115 class I hope its asian woman with at least 15lbs of bolt ons busting from their sports bras.

I just can't see it happening. Flyweight is far enough.

Completely personal opinion, but I'd rather them build a 115 lb. division than a women's division.

I'm guessing midget weight class is next after 115 is added.

There are phenomenal boxers under 115 pounds, MMA has the potential to have the same thing. I admit, I'm surprised by this announcement, I thought Dana said no more weight classes, but people should give it a chance before totally shitting on it.

Kenny Florian just announced he is coming out of retirement.
On the real, I'd rather see a super heavy weight class or even a 230 class. If you're too small to fight 125 you probably shouldn't be fighting.
