Luke Rockhold watches Strikeforce's biggest names receive their UFC debut fights and wonders when his number will be called.
The last Strikeforce middleweight champion told MMAFighting.com recently that he has yet to receive his marching orders from the UFC but is back to training after suffering a wrist injury and ready to make his Octagon debut.
In fact, Rockhold has a candidate in mind for his first UFC fight.
"I think Costa Philippou makes the most sense right now," he said. "He's coming off a win, and I think he's a good opponent. Let's get it on at [UFC on FOX 7]."

Luke Rockhld FTW. Should be a good fight, but I don't think he should run into too much trouble with Phillipou. Then again I've been wrong before...

I admire the fact that Rockhold isn't demanding an immediate title shot. That's pretty much the perfect choice right now.

That fight certainly does make sense. Very interesting match up but I think Rockhold takes it. I also wouldn't mind seeing Rockhold vs Weidman

Thought he was talking about how he wanted Anderson Silva not long ago?
I am excited for these guys coming into the MW Division, Rockhold, Souza, Kennedy.

If u think this fight will happen in san Jose. More like a week later in jersey.
I do think rockhold should face weidman instead.
Weidman and Jim miller will be on that card

It's refreshing, shows humility.

i think this could be a good fight for both. would probably be a very technical striking battle. i think rockhold has much better kicks but costa probably has the better boxing. i say make it happen.

Agreed. This is a pretty interesting match up if it does happen. If Rockhold can win it there will be no doubt in my mind that he's ready for the talent the ufc has waiting for him.
Although a match up with Weidman would be just as compelling. Both guys are beasts on the ground and can bring it standing as well.

i would def like to see this..Phillippou's boxing and power is always a scary thing..and he's been getting more and more comfortable in the cage, his TDD has improved..but i think it could be very close to what happened to Marquardt over the weekend..Rockhold's movement and leg kicks vs Phillippou's boxing and power..

I really like this fight. I would prolly lean toward Luke by UD, but i think Costa definitely would keep it close

That's how I'm feeling, but I think I just want Rockhold to win since I'm on that bandwagon.
