That's great news. Tanner is a very exciting fighter and can't wait to see him work his way back up the UFC ladder. Plus good MW fighters are needed in the UFC right now.

Do you mean PRIDE WW's because the UFC has a great WW (170) division?

yeah I've always thought WW was one of UFC's strongest divisions actually... MW is where improvement is sorely needed.

ehh....He should've known better than to take those drugs. He's a good fighter but doesn't need to be there.

more on tanner

Former UFC middleweight champion Evan Tanner will return to the Octagon after more than 17 months off — and countless pints of beer — sometime in September, according to ChuteBox USA.

Here’s the snip:

“Evan Tanner has been training hard and is determined to win the title from Anderson Silva. According to Coach Roberto, he will be fighting at UFC in September under the Chute Boxe USA banner. His opponent is still unknown.”

Tanner is now living on a boat off the coast of California and drives an hour into Huntington Beach each day to train with his new camp. Prior to that, the 36-year-old had been working on a foundation — or fight house — to help up-and-coming fighters.

Things didn’t go as planned and Tanner decided that he could do more for the foundation if he returned to competitive action.

Already, Tanner looks like he is in much better shape. And with another few months to get into top form, it’s not outside the realm of possibility that the talented fighter makes another run at the 185-pound title.

After all, he does know exactly how to beat current champion Anderson Silva.

Possible September events for Tanner to return include UFC 75 on September 8 in London, England, and UFC 76 on September 22 in California.
