Nate Marquardt can win his fight with Tarec Saffiedine this Saturday in Oklahoma, defending his Strikeforce welterweight title for the first and last time in the process, move back to the UFC, race through the division and win the championship there, make 20 defenses, and still, when people put together his defining moment in the sport, it will point back to February 21, 2009 and the finish of his fight with Wilson Gouveia.

Not just that finish of Gouveia but also his one punch KO of Maia is one i'll never forget the fact he just walked away because he knew it was done.
Marquardt is a very good fighter who IMO is top 5-10 at WW and could have some amazing fights in the UFC at this weight

I'm not a big Marquardt fan but, to be completely honest I think we will see great things out of him at welter weight. His last performance against Woodley was impressive and I'm expecting more of the same tomorrow night against Saffiedine.

No one should sleep on Tarec...Nate is ripe for an upset. I wouldn't doubt he wins a hard fought decision but Tarec will probably get the UFC call as well...he deserves it.

i hope he comes to the ufc and does really well. i have always thought that nate is a very solid fighter and a serious challenge for anyone in the weight class. i doubt we'll ever see him hold a ufc title but he can surely put on some great fights with the other top WW's

I used to be a huge Marquardt fan. I never quite understood the cut to WW, and imo he still has a few fights ahead of him to break into top 10, but he does look good at that weight. He did have some legendary fights at MW though, just surprising that the loss to Chael was what prompted him to drop a class.
