Truly a sad day for football. Greatest linebacker of all time.

I don't know if I would call him the greatest LB of all time, definitely up there though.

Everyone's time comes eventually. He was as feared of a player as there's been over the past 17 years, and was one of the best ever.

Huge fan. Ray Lewis was amazing. Sad that he is done. Truly one of the best LB around. He was terrifying. Great career.

He will probably go down as one of the 10 greatest defensive players of all time. As a pretty young person who hasn't seen that many greats walk away, I must say that this is the saddest I have ever been when hearing that an athlete plans to retire. I will genuinely miss seeing him on a football field (and commercials with Paul Rudd for that matter).

Furthermore, one of the few guys I've seen that truly played for the love of the game.

Growing up in SW PA and being a Pittsburgh fan.I actually have to admit i'll miss Ray Ray.I'll miss rooting against him and his team and the rivalry between Steelers and Ravens will be somewhat less intriguing with him gone.Although you got still got T sizzle to hold it down for a few more years....But good luck with Flacco as your new leader as he claims to be...That and him claiming to an elite QB
Anyways..Ray Lewis best at what he did for a long time...and pains me to say it..but you will be missed.

the way he transformed his game & his training regimen to remain a force in the NFL throughout the years is what i will remember most.

i'll never forget watching the superbowl as a little child and seeing that defense truly does win championships...

lewis in his fur coat and his "52" necklace made him my favourite player from when i was a kid

One of the most intense, throwback, defensive players in his time. I'm sure he'll end up broadcasting, or being a linebackers coach on a team. Easily a first ballot hall of famer.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in the playground is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no props, and may the mods have mercy on your soul.

My favorite memory, which seems to have been erased from history - was him knocking Eddie George out cold. He put the fear into George and he was never the fearless back he was before that, I've been looking for a clip of this for years.

Despite living in the greater Pittsburgh area my entire life, I am a huge Ravens fan and am sad to see him retire, although it had to happen eventually. Sine I doubt they'll make it to the Super Bowl this year, I at least hope they beat the Colts, so the man can leave home field with a win.

I'm seriously hoping the ravens galvanize around this and win the superbowl and send him out that way......every legit team thats in already has a real chance for at least the next 4 years
