Eddie Alvarez has his offer. Now it's a waiting game.
The former Bellator lightweight champ, one of the most coveted MMA free agents in years, has a contract offer in hand from the UFC. That leaves Bellator in a two-week period in which it can match the offer in an attempt to retain the fighter.
Bellator officials on Wednesday told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that promotion execs are reviewing Alvarez's offer from the UFC and are expected to announce soon whether they will match it or let him go.

Really hope Bellator lets Eddie go. He'd match up lovely against half of the UFCs lw roster!

Agreed Eddie has belonged in the UFC for a long time now in my opinion. Hopefully he finally makes his way there

I hope the UFC made a damned good offer. Bellator doesn't have enough big names so they can afford to dump a good chunk into one big draw. Hopefully the UFC is taking this seriously, though I am not too sure about that since it took so long to make the offer...or so I have been lead to believe.

Eddie is great and I too wanted to see how he'd matchup against different fighters in the UFC but now that Chandler took his belt I want to see a rematch. Bellator has plenty of talent at 155 now and there are tons of great matchups. Hell, just seeing him go through the tourney would be awesome.
Plus, Eddie often gets wobbled and I would hate to see him lose to a Jamie Varner his first fight in the UFC.

I would like to see Alvarez in the UFC and hope he comes over, but i don't believe he's a top ten lightweight.

I know most people think Eddie will be fun, but doubt he will be a legit threat in the UFC but my take on it is at least he has interesting match ups there. Honestly other than Chandler what does Bellator have to offer Eddie?

yea eddie needs this ufc contract. even if he gets the belt back in bellator and holds it for the remainder of his career he will never have truly fought the best in the world. it would be a terrible decision not to join the ufc roster.
