Hector Lombard jumped out to an early lead at UFC on FX 6, and fellow middleweight Rousimar Palhares never recovered before suffering a first-round TKO loss.
But Palhares' reps said there's a reason the fighter quickly faded.
According to a statement sent to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com), the submission specialist suffered ligament damage and broken bones in his right foot after throwing an early-fight kick.
Lombard (32-3-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Palhares (14-5 MMA, 7-4 UFC) fought in a featured bout at UFC on FX 6. The event's main card, which took place at Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Queensland, Australia, aired on FX this past Friday in the U.S. (Saturday in Australia due to the time difference).

Didn't the same thing happen to Lombard in the Boetsch fight?

It doesn't matter. It was Lombard's fight to win for start to finish.

I love Paul Harris but every time he's on the main stage he seems to flake. Even when he faught Miller he almost got DQ'd for hopping on top of the cage before the fight was over.
I hope they start feeding him cans on the undercard again.

it looked to me like palhares couldn't figure out how to get a hold of Lombard and after he felt hector's power it was only a matter of time before it all went bad for him. i am glad to see hector get a big KO, i have never got on the hype train but i do like to see guys get KTFO and Lombard definitely has the power.

I hate when reps and what not come out with statements like this. Its like their trying to justify the loss or something. It's not hectors fault he broke his damn foot.
Hector was putting on the damn pressure. Glad he got the win
