Former UFC champions Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and B.J. Penn topped the disclosed payroll for last Saturday's UFC on FOX 5 event, pocketing six-figure purses despite losing unanimous decisions, according to figures released to MMAFighting.com by the Washington State Department of Licensing.

Rua led the way with reported earnings of $175,000 for his co-main event loss to Swedish prospect Alexander Gustafsson ($60,000). Likewise, Penn pocketed a hard-earned $150,000 after suffering a brutal beating at the hands of welterweight up-and-comer Rory MacDonald ($42,000).

I see why BJ doesn't want to retire. I would take an ass whooping for half that. Come to think of it, I've taken an ass whoopin for free before

MacDonald and Gustaffson both won dominate Decision and yet they only earned 1/3 the amount that their opponents earned.

It's crazy though because his net worth is around 40 million, he's rich already.

Funny how everyone who won on the main card beat fighters with higher base purses.
