Edgar is dropping to 145. Melendez is considering it. Who do you think would win and how?

They're both so similar to me that I don't know who I would pick.

I think Frankie takes it on decision. Frankie will be the much quicker fighter and I dont think Gil will be able to keep up. I see Frankie controlling the fight if it hits the mat I think it will be Frankie who scores with the takedowns. This would be an awesome fight. Good match making P_F

I've never been a fan of Melendez's top 3 ranking. He's lucky if he's top 5. IMO Frankie would beat him at FW and LW.

I think Fankie has proven what he does to boxer/wreslters with a bit of a size advantage. I wouldn't be immediately as interested in this fight as I am in some of Frankie's potential match ups. I also think Frankie would win, outstriking Gil with his speed and movement. I think he could avoid/reverse take downs to his advantage as well.

Edgar all day imo. I'm not convinced Gil is a top 10 Lightweight. I think he'll be a top 10 Featherweight no problem but I can't see where Frankie loses to him.

I picked Edgar but this would be a really close fight. Melendez is definitely a top 5 LW but I think Edgar's speed and footwork would give him the edge

I'm with the majority, but like Bubbs and others said before me, I think it's a close ass fight. Frankie is the faster of the two and that's the big edge in this fight as far as I'm concerned. I don't see either finishing each other, it's just a 15 or 25 minute whirlwind with no one being dominant, but Frankie doing more than Gil.

Frankies boxing is what puts him ahead of everyone who can't out muscle him...and essentially all of those who can outmuscle him within reason.

Its so hard to gauge Gilbert for the mere fact is.....Who has he fought that could be a top 5 guy in the UFC? His opponents as of late are not even top 15 in the UFC...

He just won a split decision....Not impressed...I do like his resume for FW though...by resume I mean he can wrestle and has a good reach...good standup...

Josh Thomson, if healthy, is easily a top 10 LW

I think Gilbert is underrated because of his big mouth, his striking and defense are really good now days, he's on the same level as Frankie but Frankie's stamina is where he's got the edge in my book, still I would take Melendez.
