The UFC's biggest free TV card to date is coming up this Saturday with UFC On Fox 5. Despite the excitement building for the card, their matchmaking decisions have brought the ire of their biggest political rival, the Culinary Workers Union.

The Culinary Union asking Fox to pull Stephens and Trujillo, would be like Peta asking them to pull Kiefer Sutherland after his D-dubs a few years ago.

So if this culinary union has beef with Fox and some athletes in the UFC with criminal records...Then why don't they have beef with the all the NFL players with criminal backgrounds that play every sunday ?
I could just be misunderstanding the whole deal as to what this culinary union is all about...I know the NFLPA is it's own union...so maybe that was a shitty comparison on my part ?

How many players have what Stephens is being accused of on their rap sheet? I actually asking this question...

I'll just give one example: Ray Lewis was part of a group that shot and killed a guy. Football players that have done far worse than Stephens have gotten to continue playing.

Article also talks about other people not just Stephens. Rampage, Rashad, and others with the twitter mishaps. I'm guessing they are thinking anyone that has done anything bad should not compete.
Stephens and Trujillo are not on the main FOX card, they are on FX.
But, whatever. People always complain.

Those players could be seen on CBS instead
seriously though, what is this culinary union? When I read the name, I keep thinking it's a group of executive chefs and cooks and they have no business discussing the fight game. It would be like Emeril talking to Nate Diaz about a gameplan

What a joke. A worker's union saying someone should not be allowed to work because of their criminal record. Don't unions usually defend workers who are fired for the same type of conduct?

I actually read that, and there is much much more in what they are asking the UFC/Fox to do... excuse me, but I say "f" them. While on the surface their intentions are not bad per say, but what about all other professional sports who have athletes with a history....I don't see them writing these letters to CBS/NBC/ESPN about some NFL players and their history
They are just picking on MMA. Not saying what Trujillo did was right, but it was in the past, and I believe he has gone through the due process of law - maybe he's reformed, maybe he's not...I don't know, but they are digging up skeletons.
And Stephens is innocent until proven guilty...you can't punish him as a pre-emptive strike...BS!

Station Casino's (which is owned by the Fertita's owe the Culinary union a lot of money. Station shafted the union on money when they filed for bankruptcy a few years back.
The rumor is that the culinary union has a lot of pull in NYC and are the reason MMA is not allowed in New York.
The Fertitas are both billionaires. They should just pay the union so they can pay their blue-collar workers who are getting screwed over by Station.
I've never agreed with the politics behind corporations. The Fertitas clearly have the money to pay off Station's debts, they just don't want to, and are using legal and political loop-holes to shift their debt and not pay the workers. It's not right that the law protects billionaires over these blue-collar workers that are getting screwed.
I'm sure the culinary union could care less about Jeremy Stephens, or any NFL players. They're just trying to tarnish the image of Zuffa, and who can blame them. They have good reason to hate the Fertitas. This is just politics. It has little to do with Stephens or the UFC in general, and everything to do with the Fertitas, and Station Casino's shorting a bunch of employees who worked for them.

It was actually a stabbing, two people were murdered.

Dez Bryant and the Cowboys are on fox just about every Sunday they don't have a Monday or Sunday night game (atleast for what my viewing area broadcasts) and he got a nice record before this season started.Similar to domestic violence.

The Website they advise the reader to check out "unfitforchildren.org" is created and maintained by the Culinary Workers Union Local 226. The petition that they reference was started and distributed by their parent organization Unite Here. The local union alone has over 60k members and they could only get 10k signatures on it so I don't really see it as support for their cause.
I can't believe how far this union will go to try and hurt the pocketbooks of the Fertitta's.
