UFC matchmaker Joe Silva has been getting help from his fighters recently. Now, you can add John Hathaway and Matt Riddle to the list.
The two took to Twitter to discuss a potential match, which could be added to the UFC on Fuel TV 7 card just reported for England in February.

"(Dana White) last week I asked my twitter followers who they'd like to see me fight next and the resounding answer was (Riddle)," Hathaway posted. "He doesn't like British people, I'm British so lets do this! I'll even fight him in the UFC if he wants! What do you think?"

I haven't been that high on Hathaway in his last couple fights but let's hope a motivated Hathaway shows up because I think Riddle's the perfect opponent for a fan friendly fight.

I wouldn't say he's looked unmotivated, but he has been particularly wrestle happy. His hands are decent too, so I'm not sure why he doesn't really let them loose, but Riddle probably isn't the right guy to start throwing against. It'll come down to Riddle's tdd, ability to standup, and keeping the distance. I like this fight.

Riddle won't be able to muscle his way through this one.

Well, Hathaway was cleanly outstruck by a smoother and more evasive Mike Pyle a while ago. Not only is it humiliating to be punched in the face over and over, it's even worse when it results in your first loss. Hathaway did the right thing for a young fighter, he went back to his roots and re-established his confidence. It's also possible he realizes a potential weakness in that while he hits crisply, his standup's also a bit rigid. A fighter with good head movement or footwork will abuse that all night.

I actually think it's better for Hathaway to keep this standing. Riddle's a beast on the ground, and a major factor into his losses is that he loves to stand and brawl. His standup's more rudimentary than Hathaway's, he just plants his feet and throws arm punches without putting his hips into it or lunging for extra range. He could have a considerable reach at WW by exploiting his longer frame, but he's content to strike like an in-fighter.

Hathaway's a big WW as well (as noted above, I'd be surprised if Riddle can bully him around), and his straight right looked excellent against Sanchez. Perfect punch to throw on Riddle. I doubt Hathaway would win via stoppage, but if he at least neutralizes the clinch battle (which is very possible given his physical strength) I see it as his fight to lose.

I don't like the idea of fans/fighters picking fights. I think it degrades the sport.

I understand but when we leave it up to the UFC we get fighters on a 2 loss streak dropping weight and getting a title fight and a loss and going up a weight and getting a title fight.

I like this fight. I'm thinking Hathaway might be a little too much for Riddle at this point but I'd like to see how Riddle looks against a guy like him. Hathaway is a young prospect but he's already 7-1 in the ufc with solid wins over both Rick Story and Diego Sanchez (even though that was the worst possible version of Sanchez, it's still impressive). If either guy wins I think they're due for a bit of a step up in competition.

Solid match up. I personally think that Hathaway will take this fight on decision. I know Riddle has been blasting the UK, and I got a feeling Hathaway smashes him for it

I disagree......they both have had some crazy fights and I think they (together) will put on a hell of a fight. Normally I pick but don't like Riddle, I don't think he can pull off a decision here, I will most likely be picking against Riddle this time.
