The women put on good shows and the sex appeal is something I dont tally into the interest... until the inevitable playboy issue!!!

Either way the UFC has WAY too much going on right now, maybe more right now than any sports league ever in the history of the world.

Hate to say it but I don't think women's MMA will ever be popular. They aren't going to be able to stand on their own.

How many people (especially casual fans) would buy a card that was women only?

The answer should tell you that this is a bad idea.

Its not a womens card only... Women fight even in most fights and they are more prone to take risks, its like the old days with men minus the athleticism. I think you might be right about the casual fan but really I for my own greed like this move.

Not to mention we I cant wait for Rousey to get that first asskicking. Shes the female tito.

I know its not a womens only card. My point is that a womens only card would have a horrible buy-rate and few would want to watch it.

If it can't stand on its own (or as a main event) that tells me that it isn't viable.

So an all flyweight card is viable.... I suspect incorrect reasoning

EDIT- There are 2 polarized stars in Cyborg and Rousey and having a few polarized stars is all you need for something like lower weight classes or gender weights ala 145 only aldo
135 only Torres Faber and Cruz
125 Mouse and mexican mouse

I feel that by adding a few more women (Cyborg, Carano, Fuji, Kedzie) and promoting it on free cards for awhile while also introducing unknowns to even us OG's over the course of several years could build it up to sustainability. Only time will tell

Smart move by the UFC. The women's division will be small. But Rousey will sell seats, pull ratings, and put on fun fights.
\
And even with all the divisions, there is more than enough room for some more marquee talent. If 2012 taught us anything, its that the UFC can never have enough fighters with the amount of cards they put on and the amount injuries that happen.

UFC's pulling out all the stops in '13. If the ratings aren't a fair amount better, thats a BAD sign for MMA. Could be on an endless decline

or it reached a plateau

The casual fan is confused as shit right now. It's hard to say what's in store for the long term, but we'll probably be knocking on 2014's door before the stability even sets in with the casuals.

Bellator/Spike plans on taking advantage of that confusion.
