If you thought Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira looked somewhat less than his best at UFC 153 against Dave Herman, you weren't imagining things. Nogueira has revealed to Tatame.com that he suffered a broken rib in training three weeks before the bout.

Win or lose, I think it's better you keep this stuff private. It's disrespectful to the opponent, IMO.

I always thought he was more respectful than Anderson...

nog needs to retire. i know he can still fight but it seems like he is so injury ridden these days he's not going to have anything left once he does retire. he's got nothing left to prove, he's got gyms and fighters to train, he can safely retire. i hate saying that fighters should retire because its their decision, but i also hate to see veterans like nog get throttled after all they have done in the sport.

Feed him to Mir again, and his ribs won't be the only thing broken.

I see what you're saying, but I feel if he wants to keep going than so be it, it's not like he is in there getting his ass handed to him, not wanting to leave the sport.
What would probably be best for him is fight once a year on one of the Brazil cards for the next couple years, since he has no interest in fighting JDS, just let him be on the Brazil card(s) to sell more tickets and up PPV buys.

I don't understand how this is allowed? There is no medical clearance these guys must go through before a fight?

Big Nog is a zombie no injury is going to keep that man from fighting if he's got 2 arms and 2 legs he's throwing down. He fought with Staph he fought with a broken rib. In my opinion Big Nog always comes to fight win or lose and he always makes it entertaining for us and the fans. Thats why I'll always love to watch Big Nog

But he won the fight. Everyone was talking like Herman was going to waste Nog. I agree he has nothing to prove but he also has to make money and if he still enjoys fightig then who are we to stop him.

I really wish there was a geriatrics league. I wish major fight leagues could employ these retired guys to compete with less contact in MMA exhibitions with no rankings, no titles etc...
I would love to watch retired 50 year old randy take on retired Fedor in a co main event just for shits and giggles the way they used to hold pro fights in japan. They had Don Frye and Ken Shamrock fighting well past their primes with no intent on rankings.

Par for the course for Nog these days. It's always something, so it seems.
