UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones has opened as a -600, or 6-to-1, favorite over upcoming opponent Chael Sonnen, who's a +400 underdog.

Veteran oddsmakers Joey Oddessa today confirmed the opening line with MMAjunkie.com.

As reported earlier today, Jones and Sonnen have been tapped as coaches for "The Ultimate Fighter 17," which debuts in January on FX. They'll then headlined an as-yet-unannounced pay-per-view event on April 27.

Haha... he was the original Edward blue print.

Re the fight - I don't think it's going to be as easy for Jones as people think. Or maybe I'm just drinking the underdog koolaid again. Either way - would love to see Chael end his reign and pull out a win.

I am surprised its not a bigger line for Jones...I mean I think the only threat from chael is wrestling which isnt that great as people make it out to be....

I take that back...Im yet to see chael fight someone who can actually wrestle...Bisping stuffed Chael on the regular...

Chael should fight Ryan Bader...or at least a top 5.....This UFC stuff is getting ridiculous and more and more like WWE...

I think Chris Weidman would whip Chael....Like I said this is ridiculous....

tell me how you really feel.....

i think this is not as easy a fight as people believe. Chael is hard to KO, although submittable. When titles or big fights are on the Chael becomes a whole new machine.

Striking- Jones
Wrestling- Chael
BJJ- Jones (if he is on top)

we havent really seen how jones game is off his back. now we will i think this could become a close fight between two guys with insane heart and will to win.

at the moment i will take Jones by late fight sub.

IMO it won't be close. Even if he does get Jones down what will he do? Submit him? Knock him out? Keep him down? I doubt it. Sonnen struggled against Bisping and he's going to go through hell against Jones.

Rashad Evans is bigger than Chael and IMO a better wrestler.

Chael is going to get murdered. If Jones wants it to, this will end in the first round.

He's kinda like Anderson though. He doesn't always finish as quickly as he could so maybe he will let this go on longer.

It is hard to imagine Chael having any effective offense in this fight. -600 is about right . . . and that's saying something in MMA.

this without a doubt a tough fight for sonnen. jones has excellent wrestling which means if he can stop chael's TD's chael could be in some trouble. although i think chael knows this and will probably have a game plan on how to get a hold of jones.

As for gameplans Im not so sure Chael has much of one at anytime....except to try to get opponent down...

the only gameplan to beat Jon Jones is to go in swinging for the fences...

Hopefully we get to see Jones' very first triangle sub win.
