In that case only Hendo and Sonnen are actually wrestlers.....Lutter, Maia, Lietes, Marquardt....all have bases in BJJ. I really believe there aren't any wrestlers who are going to be able to hold Silva down if the blanketing effects of Sonnen weren't able to accomplish a victory. Weidman is NOT a better wrestler than Sonnen/Hendo, his striking isn't better than Marquardt/Forrest, nor is his Jitz better that Lutter/Maia/Lietes. Where does and how does he win?!
His BJJ is top notch....his reach is a couple inches longer than Bonners.....If Weidman gets Silva in a position like Bonnar did Silva will be eating punches on his back and Elbows....
Weidman is a student of the game...and yeah hes just a good of a wrestler as Hendo and Sonnen easily...
I will av bet...I think Silva avoids Weidman at all costs...
I am game....totally! AV bet on the fight if it happens

Weidman will not beat Silva. The guy has one good showing against Munoz and all of a sudden he's a world beater with the tools to beat the GOAT, undefeated for years and never defeated in UFC
great wrestler and a pretty solid grappling pedigree could very well be the tools to beat Silva.

Learning to Sprawl
Chael lost to Anderson the first time because he got submitted. And Chael got submitted because he stayed in Andersons guard basically the whole fight. Because Chael is a wrestler. Not a jiu jitsu specialist.
Chris Weidman can wrestle. AND he is a decorated black belt.
He will take Anderson down. He will pass his guard. And he actually has a chance of submitting him. If not, without a doubt, he will not be tapped from the top. And his GNP will be way more brutal from side control or mount, than Chaels was from guard.
Chael lost to Anderson the second time because he folded after he failed a take down. Will Weidman fold on the feet? I don't think so. I think he will be like Demian Maia. Cool, calm, and collected. Barely engaging. Just enough to create openings and take Silva down.
But Weidman will never get to fight Silva. Silva will retire before it ever happens. Or Weidman will lose. Styles make fights and there's definitely still some hard fights out there for Weidman besides Silva.
