I'm feeling a bit under the weather lately so I will get to JJ's and Budge's cards when I feel better which will hopefully be tomorrow.

Results for the DBBC 3 Weigh ins:

All fighters except one (Colton Smith) made weight on the first go, the Main and Co-Main matches results are listed below:

Thiago Silva 216 & Jared Hamman 213.5
Jake Shields 180 & Xavier Lucas 180

Notes:
Colton Smith failed to make the 150 barrier weighing in at 152.25, however he made it about an hour later on his second attempt hitting 149.5.
Steven Siler has a 5 and a half inch height advantage on Sergio Pettis
Seth Petruzelli and Ken Shamrock had there staredown from 5 feet away as they both looked eager to start tonight. This turned out to be a reoccurring theme as Akira and Julian Lane also refused to staredown instead the two just engaged in words from afar.

Yushin 'Thunder' Okami defeats 'The All American' Chris Weidman (Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3)
John 'Maos de Pedra' Lineker defeats Francisco Rivera (TKO (Strikes) in 1:05 of round 2)

Marlon Sandro defeats Daniel 'The Pit' Pineda (Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3) - Featherweight Quarter Final Bout
'The Fluke' Josh Grispi defeats Javier 'Showtime' Vazquez (Split Decision in 5:00 of round 3) - Featherweight Quarter Final Bout
Paul 'The Headhunter' Buentello defeats Stipe Miocic (TKO (Strikes) in 1:24 of round 1)

KOTN - Jorge Santiago
SOTN - Hatsu Hioki
FOTN - Alcantara vs. Blanco

Quick Fight Breakdowns:

Paul Buentello vs. Stipe Miocic - Buentello got things started early in this one. He dropped Miocic early in the 1st and followed up with a barrage of ground and pound that forced the ref to pull him off of a dazed Miocic. Miocic is now 0-2 in Budge MMA and is in danger of losing his relevance.

Josh Grispi vs. Javier Vasquez - Grispi picked up a very close split decision win in the 1st Featherweight tournament bout of the evening. This wasn't the most exciting fight as both fighters spent a lot of time with their backs against the cage but Grispi managed to put it together in the 3rd round and steal this fight. Grispi now advances to the semi-finals of the Featherweight tournament.

Marlon Sandro vs. Daniel Pineda - In the evening's 2nd Featherweight tournament bout, Sandro dominated Pineda. Pineda spent a lot of the fight defending off his back and Sandro capitalized on his lack of takedown defence. Sandro moves on to the semi-finals where he will face Josh Grispi at a later date.

Antonio Carvalho vs. Jimy Hettes - Carvalho picks up the upset victory over a very game Jimy Hettes. This wasn't all that exciting but Carvalho spent 3 rounds in the top positioning doing just enough not to get stood up. Hettes on the other hand tried to throw up several submission attempts that just quite didn't work out for him. Carvalho will now meet the winner of Hioki and Siver in the semi-finals.

Hatsu Hioki vs. Dennis Siver - Hioki came out strong in this fight. His stand up looked crisp. He was able to transition to a powerful takedown and from there he set up an arm-triangle choke that ended Siver's night early. Hioki will fight Antonio Carvalho in the semi-finals later this year.

John Lineker vs. Francisco Rivera - Like most people expected, this fight took place on the feet. Lineker and Rivera spent the 1st round really feeling each other out and exchanging punches. Early in the 2nd, Lineker was able to land several right hands in a row that dropped Rivera. Lineker continued the onslaught and the ref mercifully pulls him off of a defeated Rivera. With the win, Lineker inches closer to a potential shot at the vacant Bantamweight title.

Yushin Okami vs. Chris Weidman - In a battle of two fighters who were expected to go far in the Middleweight division, one had to get back on track and one had to fall into obscurity. Although the fight was close, Okami came out on top in a 3 round affair. It came down to round number 3, where Okami was able to use takedowns and top control to overpower Weidman. Okami walks away with the win and Weidman falls to the very bottom of the decision.

Yuri Alcantara vs. Maximo Blanco - This was the fight of the night. Both men were determined to become the next number one contender to the Featherweight title. Although Blanco put up a solid effort he was on the losing end of every round. Alcantara did most of his work on the ground in top position but the fight had some punching exchanges as well. Alcantara will now fight the winner of Jose Aldo and Erik Koch at a later date.

Jorge Santiago vs. Dan Henderson - Santiago has been a heavy underdog in both his Budge MMA fights but both times he has proven that he shouldn't be underestimated. After losing the 1st two rounds to Henderson, Santiago countered a barrage of punches from a tired Hendo with a right head kick that knocked the long time veteran out cold. With the win Santiago becomes the first ever Budge MMA Middleweight champion.

Cain Velasquez vs. Gabriel Gonzaga - Velasquez showed tonight why he was the number 1 prospect when Budge MMA started. He came in and dominated Gonzaga from the opening bell. Early in the 2nd round Cain was able to rock Gonzaga with a right cross and from there it was all over. With the win Cain becomes the first ever Budge MMA Heavyweight champion. It will be tough finding an opponent that can handle his pace in the future.
