I was thinking about "current " NFL players that would be good in MMA..

I know Jared Allen of Minnesota trains and of Course Arthur Jones Bones' brother..
Marcades Lewis the TE of the Jaguars trains...

I look for physical characteristics....I think Jason Pierre Paul would be good...

I believe his reach is just as long as Jon Jones....And maybe Rob Gronkowski of the Patriots...

can anyone add any names on physical traits or toughness?

Id say Ray Lewis definitely back in the day and ED reed were both tough...

My team is the Jaguars...theyre all pretty weak I cant think of one guy on there who would be good in MMA...MJD is 205 so at his weight I woudlnt give him a chance...

I look at it more like if they chose to pursue MMA instead of football, who has the mental and physical toughness to compete. I'll name some guys currently or in their prime: Brian Urlacher, John Lynch, Ndamukong Suh, Terrell Owens, Peyton Manning (think GSP type gameplanning and execution), Ben Roethlisberger, Brandon Jacobs

He's a beast, and would use those knees to cause damage.

MJD

Short, compact, strong as hell. I could see him bouncing around the cage

I think people would be surprised and disappointed to see how quickly most NFL players would gas if they tried to make the transition now. And despite the athleticism they show in their sport (and you show a lot in the NFL) a lot of these guys would not have the timing and coordination you would expect when they switched to a radically different sport.

But there are some ringers out there. The most obvous to me would be Stephen Neal, an athletic HW who beat Brock Lesnar to secure his second NCAA wrestling championship.

Suh is definitely up there. While I like this idea, I have always been throwing around the idea of NBA players persuing mma. I want to see KG out there giving his look of disgust at his opponent.

Tom Zbikowski - he might just be one trick pony with just boxing skills, but at least he brings something to the table if starting out in MMA other than athleticism.

Chandler Jones - The younger faster Jones brother Teh Kingsmasher forgot to mention.

Cedric Benson - Just do a google search on his roommate that he beat up....

James Harrison - He'd prob blow a knee out during training though.

I also agree with some that are already mentioned, Willis, Matthews, Jacobs, both Lewis'.

First person I thought of was Jason Pierre-Paul. Someone I'm sure you have no clue also why your Jags passed him up.
