World Series of Fighting has a headliner for its debut event.

A heavyweight bout between Andrei Arlovski (17-9) and Devin Cole (20-9-1) will serve as the main event of WSOF 1, officials today announced.

WSOF 1 takes place Nov. 3 at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The event's main card airs live on NBC Sports Network, formerly known as Versus.

"We are thrilled to welcome both Andrei and Devin to the World Series of Fighting roster and to have them headline our first live event," World Series of Fighting President Ray Sefo stated.

That's a pretty decent first card so far, hopefully the blanks get filled in with some decent names.

Interesting. Torres was supposed to headline. I'm assuming he's either hurt or they couldn't find a suitable opponent?

He's still listed against the formidable TBA.

My guess is they think AA is a bigger name. I agree with them though.
Maybe they thought Torres was the biggest name they could get before the event?

i'll watch, but AA has become stale for me. i just dont really care about his fights anymore. i am more interested in the torres fight assuming they will find him an opponent.

I personally enjoy watching Arlovski fight. I didn't think he stood a chance against Fedor, but he was picking him apart before he jumped into Fedor's right hand. He's always exciting.

I dig watching AA too. My expectations are not very high, but he's one of those guys I keep routing for.

I'd rather see Torres headline too...

With regards to headliners, it often comes down to weight class.

Andrei Arlovski and Miguel Torres are similar with regards to their star power (though Torres has been a top contender more recently) but AA takes the slot because he is a HW. Casual fans, in general, prefer the big guys to the small ones.

Sad fact if you're a little MMA fighter, but it seems to be true.

I totally agree. I'll forgive them, as they try to get WSOF off the ground...

Really? I've heard way higher cheers for Arlovski than I have for Torres

Even in both of their primes (or now) I still think Andrei got the more love.

I do agree with your sentiments about little guys not getting the love of the big guys.
