For the past few years in the world of MMA heroes and villains, Michael Bisping has almost always been rated as public enemy No. 1.

The brash Brit never holds his tongue, doesn’t mind speaking out about any subject, and has no problem dropping a few expletives for an opponent or anyone really when the mood strikes him.

But something strange happened to Michael Bisping on his way to the stage for the UFC 152 weigh-ins on Friday – he received a loud ovation from the Toronto crowd and most of the noise came from cheers, not jeers.

Bisping has routinely soaked in the boos from fans in the past, and has even admittedly reveled in the moment when he gets to play the bad guy. Over the past few months however it appears Bisping might be turning a corner with the fans, who are starting to enjoy his personal brand of delivering pre-fight hype and exciting fights in the cage...

All I have to say is that I called him overrated for years but his last two fights have shut me up and although I may not cheer him that I no longer boo him and give him credit where credits due.

i dont think he's a fan fav, but he's definitely not as hated as he used to be. i used to hate bisping a lot, but then hendo KO'd his ass and reminded him that he's still human and it's time to grow up. now i dont really mind him and actually enjoy watching his fights and interviews. with that said, i still would have loved to see stann put him to sleep like hendo did. semper fi

Probably because Bisping wasn't fighting in the US of A against a 'Merican

seriously though, I fully expected to be the only one in my section cheering for Bisping

'Murcans love to hate Brits, and vice versa, I have no idea why, you are both awesome.
People are coming around to Bisping because he's been hanging around longer than anyone thought he would. As Dave Chappelle would say -He says some real shit from time to time, and people forget he's a real dude with real problems.

I think he's recently taken a leaf out of Chael's book in that any publicity is good publicity, and its a lot easier to get publicity the dishonorable way, by abusing people verbally, starting shit, spitting and embracing the role of heel.

I did a bit of research (wiki) on Bisping,

Bisping was born in Cyprus in 1979, but moved to Bridlington, East Yorkshire, when he was a child. Taking an early interest in martial arts, Bisping began training in a traditional form of jiujitsu known as Yawara Ryu under Paul Lloyd Davies when he was 8 years old. In 1994, at the age of 15, Bisping competed as an amateur in England's first "no holds barred" competition, a precursor to modern MMA, called Knock Down Sport Budo (KSBO), organised by Davies. At the age of 18, Bisping decided to abandon his martial arts training in order "to pursue real life". But less than a year later Bisping began training kickboxing and karate on the advice of Allan Clarkin, owner of Black Knights Kickboxing, MMA, Combat Sambo, Burnley Gym, who saw potential in the young fighter. Bisping enjoyed a short, but successful kickboxing career, winning the North West Area title and later the Pro British light heavyweight kickboxing title. After again briefly quitting competition in 1998, Bisping returned to kickboxing to take the Pro British light heavyweight title for a second time. Soon after winning his second kickboxing title, Bisping was forced to abandon his full-time training for a "real job". Bisping worked in factories, slaughterhouses, as an upholsterer, a postman, a tiler, a plasterer, a double-glazing door salesman, production line operative making barbecues at Rectella in Clitheroe and also a relatively successful DJ around the north-west club scene.

I don't think he's as hated. If he fights a person he respects, he's pretty good about keeping his mouth shut. I think he's just a really confident guy, that's not afraid to speak out about anything. One thing is for sure, he can certainly back up the talk. He's turning out to be a very good fighter.

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in the playground is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no props, and may the mods have mercy on your soul.

i've liked him for a long time now. most fans would rip him apart (it would seem like) but i've said for a long time now that the guy knows how to win. i realise that its mostly against lesser opponents but what can he do if thats who dana and company matches him up with.
