Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes is enjoying life outside the Octagon, taking his son on a recent expedition to Africa. One that included bagging and tagging a bunch of exotic animals that can't be found in the woods of Illinois.

I'd like to get the PG's reaction to this. I understand hunting for food but to me this is ridiculous. In addition to the antelope, Matt and his son also killed a zebra and a wildebeest. What are they going to do with the dead animals? They can't take them back to the States. I'm not a PETA advocate but this makes me angry.

It's true though. There was no need to kill these things. Hunting is something I've always wanted to try but this is taking it to a level where it doesn't need to be taken. Most of my family is from Newfoundland and the majority of the men hunt. No one ever shoots without the intent to eat. Moose, rabbit, all that good stuff. They don't go around shooting shit just for the hell of it. That's where Hughes crosses the line imo.
And the zebra just sticks out in my head. Who the fuck shoots a zebra?

I'm sure he will take the hides back to the states and have them mounted for trophies. I do hunt, and I do fish. I do not waste anything, and I'm sure nothing is wasted on the hunts in Africa. Many people love hunting and fishing and experience an extreme rush from doing so. I do not enjoy killing animals, but hunting and fishing is something I choose to do. I will admit there are some disturbed savages out there who kill anything in site; these savages give other hunters a bad reputation.

Kinda wish I posted this after I had all the facts. Even the zebra part. Apparently hunting zebra in Africa is a big thing. Definitely not my thing, but who am I to judge.

Hypocrisy at it's finest. He is accusing others of being "phony" Christians for hunting animals yet he goes on to say he would like to shoot humans.

Actually it is pretty Christian to kill any animal you want (including homo sapiens in some cases). According to the theology "This is man's dominion and he can kill whatever animals he likes and he can treat the planet however he chooses because god gave it to man" ...Not saying I agree with that at all because it's nonsense since man is an animal himself and it does matter how we treat the planet and the other animals. But cmon Hardy, you're not coming off very knowledgeable on the subject by saying what Hughes is doing makes him a Phony-Christian to hunt animals. It is in fact in his holy book that he can hunt all he likes without heavenly intervention, whether that's a good thing or not is not really what I'm addressing.. I don't agree with this bronze age gibberish but I thought I'd straighten out the mess that Dana will probably want to "have a sit down" with you about later this week.

I've hunted many times in the past. Some game animals are pests in NZ, like Red Deer and Wild Goats, as they destroy native flora and their numbers have gotten out of hand. I have no qualms about culling a pest, but if these guys are killing these animals for a fucking photo op, that's pretty sick. That antelope wasn't harming anything.
