i think they should just bring him into the ufc for one of the cards in November or December.

I think there is an issue with the Strikeforce-Showtime contract that required the tournament championship winner to fight once or twice more on Showtime promoted Strikeforce cards. I think that is also a similar reason why Melendez and Rochold are still with Strikeforce. Rochold was complaining about that on a recent episode of Fight Factory.

It would probably be a boring fight but I would be interested to see Cormier versus Kole Conrad just to see one of them being forced to work off their back.

Who do you think they should get to replace him? Werdum? He isn't scheduled, I don't think. He isn't injured is he? Cormier still has to fulfill his last fight for Strikeforce/Showtime before he moves to the UFC.

I think Werdum makes the most since. He's not scheduled, both guys are ranked in the top 10, and IMO Werdum has been improving. Werdum is recognized as one of the most dangerous submission specialists in MMA. His striking is looking really good and this would be a serious test for both fighters.

If Werdum doesn't get the shot at Cormier maybe they've got bigger plans for him. Maybe TUF Brazil 2. Coaches JDS and Werdum.

The only reason Werdum might not get this is if they are trying to preserve potential contenders. He has looked good recently and may be only a win or two away from a title shot. Similarly with Cormier. If he wins this last Strikeforce/Showtime fight, he might only have to win 1 in the UFC before getting a shot, depending, of course on who he fights and if Cain happens to be the champ.

Wow I'm shocked by all the Mir haters out there. It's a huge assumption to think that Mir was going to be run through in this fight. I was really excited about the fight and I'm definitely disappointed that it's not going to happen. The injury bug is no more active this year than it was last year. The reality is that the FOX deal and weight class expansion has resulted in a ton more cards than years before. UFC 150 was the 21st card of the year, 11 more were scheduled and one was canceled. 32 fight cards in a year is incredible and this only includes UFC cards. The Strikeforce side of things isn't even accounted for in those 32. Last year there were 27 cards. 5 more cards this year than last year, several more co-main type situations, more fights per card than years before....injuries are going to happen more frequently. I don't like it at all, but it's just the reality of having so many events.

At this rate, we may never see a big fight ever again.

A Mr. Roy Nelson wants to step in

from his facebook

"Found out FRANK MIR is out. I told the @ufc & @danawhite put me in coach. I know their are few that will step up, but hey sometimes you have to "FIGHT BEFORE BEING FIRED". Movie quote'

Mirrrrr does poorly against guys he can't take down that hit hard. He got creamed by both Carwin and Brock.

People seem to really want Cormier to fight another BJJ guy and I'm not sure why. Cormier beat BigFoot, Barnett and Monson.

Nobody is tapping Cormier anytime soon so I think it's time to see him fight Jonny Bones.

After beating Barnett a win over Mir wouldn't mean anything anyway.

How does a win over Frank Mir not mean anything? The guy might have been rocked a few times, but he's still a HW legend for me and most people.

I'll walk out into the shooting range.
Very dissapointed that Mir got hurt. I think Mir would have beaten Cormier anyways. I thought this was a chance for Cormier to get beat, and hopefully get some sense beaten into him to lose the gut. We already have a fat guy, don't need another. Drop to LHW and fight Bones. I recall seeing a post fight conference where Dana said Cormier would get a shot at the HW title as soon as he came over. I assume this could be true for the LHW title as well since the LHW division is so shallow right now. I don't know what people see in Cormier. His striking isn't that good, and even if he has power, he doesn't have technique. That's ok in SF, but not in the UFC. JDS would make very quick work of Cormier.

Alright so Hunts out. Really, use Tim Sylvia. He's been dying to get back in and Cormier may have a shot at beating Timmy. They may just throw him a Bonnar bone just to give him something to do

Have to spread the love, but I totally agree with you.

Mir had a serious chance in this fight. I'd say it was about 50-50 really.

I think Conrad retired last week, to work for a milk company
