UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz is taking another job as a talent scout.
Ortiz, who recently opened an MMA management group, on Wednesday announced he'll be developing talent for an amateur fight series in Southern California.
"I pretty much want to be the Golden Gloves on the amateur side," Ortiz today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "Find new talent and teach them the right way."
Ortiz, a former UFC light heavyweight champ, partners with longtime SoCal promoter Roy Englebrecht for "Fight Club MMA: Rising Stars," which debuts Oct. 6 at The Hangar at the OC Fair & Event Center in Orange County, Calif.
"Tito Ortiz is MMA in Southern California," Englebrecht said. "Tito brings his business experience, his fighting experience and his relationships."
In a press release, Ortiz called the event series "a developmental league to the pros." Englebrecht clarified the retired fighter is not the promoter of record for the event.
Ortiz aims not only to sign promising talent from the series but coach fighters one-on-one on public relations and marketing.
