The term super fight is often times thrown around way too liberally in the mixed martial arts game, and we in the media are as guilty as anyone of its propagation.
But when it comes to Anderson Silva and Georges St-Pierre, largely considered the top two or at least among the top three pound-for-pound fighters in the world, a fight between the two UFC champions could not be argued as anything less than deserving of the super fight moniker.
UFC president Dana White has often been vague about a fight between the two, saying that there is a lot for each to accomplish in his division. As time passes, however, he’s talking more and more specifics.
“I think if we do the fight with (Anderson Silva) and Georges St-Pierre, it would be at a catchweight; probably like 178 (pounds), something like that,” White said on Tuesday’s edition of the Dave & Mahoney show on X107.5 radio in Las Vegas.
“Georges St-Pierre says he does (want the fight),” he added. “He wants to do it, yeah.”
When asked if this could be St-Pierre’s next fight if he gets past Carlos Condit at UFC 154 in November, White even went so far to answer, “Probably.”

And what will Kampmann/Hendricks do then? I'd rather see GSP attend to the division he's been absent from for so long tbh.

I agree Budge. There's so many fights at WW for GSP it's sick. GSP vs. Condit 1st of course. Providing he wins then give him the Hendricks/Kampmann winner. Everyone wants the GSP/ Nick Diaz fight to happen. Jake Ellenberger was on a roll before his loss to Kampmann so he'll be back in the mix. Erick Silva has opened up as a slight favorite over Fitch at UFC 153 and with a win there he will crack the top 10 rankings and he'd be well established at that point. I could keep going but I think everyone gets the drift, there's plenty of work for GSP to do at WW.

can't wait to see how he handles Condit w/ the long layoff. Love the possibilities of GSP vs Erick Silva, Kampmann, Ellenberger, Diaz & Hendricks....lots of good ones out there!!!!!!!!

i agree. the thought of a superfight sounds good, but the WW division has been on hold too long. plus, i doubt silva would take the fight. i think he's looking for a way out now, what with all the injuries. i think retirement is just around the corner. he has nothing left to prove as a champion.

the WW division has been on hold too long.
I agree with this. Too bad that so-called interim belt was completely useless in preventing the pile-up at the top. I don't think they should have bothered calling it an interim-belt - it's been more of a save-your-place in line wristband. GSP has a lot of work to do when he's back.
But I digress...
I'd love to see the fight with Silva. I won't get too excited until the ink dries on that one though. It still seems like a bit of a pipe-dream.

GSP will get PAST Condit... and he has a very good shot at beating Anderson Silva too, double period.

would like to see this fight, 2 of the greatest champions in history fighting each other while relativity in their primes!!! sorry the WW div can be on hold. plus the only reason the WW div is on hold is because of the UFC so i don't mind them repaying us by giving us this fight. they could have forced conduit to defend thus furthering the case of how useless interim titles are. can't blame GSP blowing out ur knee is big & don't really hold anything against condit; getting a chance to fight one the sports all time greats is something you should never pass up. I don't see why some ppl aren't for this happening. this would be a historic fight, may not level up to the hype but still. its not everyday you can get 2 champs of this level to fight so they should do it. just my 2 cents
