Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker has long been a staunch supporter of women competing in mixed martial arts, and it seems he's quickly developing a powerful ally.
UFC President Dana White, who has often expressed concern in regards to the viability of female MMA, was cageside on Saturday in San Diego to watch women's bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey (6-0 MMA, 4-0 SF) continue her impressive streak, and Coker believes there should now be little doubt what women can bring to the sport.
"Female mixed martial arts is here to stay," Coker said on Saturday. "Look at the fights tonight. They were unbelievable. They're great athletes, and I think that tonight they showed that again."

It is a lot of work for WMMA to be as mainstream as male MMA but it has potential. Personally (although maybe a little to late in career) I saw some evolution in Kedzie last night. She was beating Tate solidly in the first and came out in the third looking to do the same. If more women follow her path (and that of Tate's gutsy last stand performance) then I believe we are starting to see the next step this sport has to take after the international growth spurt seen earlier this year and last.

It'll be at least five years before women have a handful of fleshed out divisions, and only if a higher paying league gets behind it. You need to invest into the product so it can grow.
Honestly, SF should just be the platform. Send the men off to UFC and build the product around 125-145lb womens MMA. They already take a loss on it, so might as well build a brand.

personally SF should just fold and have Invicta FC be the premier WMMA brand. Get NBC Sports or Showtime (once SF folds) sign them to a TV deal to further promote the brand.
Or have the two work together or merge IFC with SF. TPF was the premier flyweight org (unless a Japan org was that) before the UFC decided to expand its roster so it can work

I'd rather see women fight than adding a 115lb division.
The current divisions still need some depth.
There is potential there, though for women.
