The last time Ultimate Fighter season 1 winner Diego Sanchez was at 155lbs he was fighting for the UFC lightweight title.

That fight against B.J. Penn in 2009 didn’t go his way, and after the fight Sanchez moved back up to welterweight where he had spent the majority of his career to that point.

Now after some soul searching and obviously some dietary changes, Sanchez has decided he will officially move back down to lightweight for his next fight in the UFC.

“It’s back to 155 for me,” Sanchez wrote on his Twitter page recently. “Should be good!”

According to Sanchez, the unfortunate side of things right now is an injury that’s pushing his return to the Octagon back for a few more months. Sanchez underwent shoulder surgery, but is currently rehabbing and working his way back into action...

about time. ive been waiting for diego to make the move back to LW. he may never be a champ, but he is super exciting at LW regardless of if he wins or not. the guida/sanchez fight still goes down as one of my favorites.

I don't think this move is going to do much for Sanchez. The problem is that he needs to "up" his game. I think Diego has actually done the opposite. I think his game has deteriorated while the rest of the competition has evolved and improved.

He'll be fine at LW as long as he stays at Jackson's and doesn't venture off like he did last time.

Dude was good at LW and it is where he belongs IMO.....he fought for title and looked better, his wrestling was more dominating and I think if he stops trying to be a boxer he could be a contender again.

Diego Sanchez is a talking RG-400 "smart" towel manufactured by Tynacorp. He is designed to automatically adjust his absorbency level depending on the dampness of the surface he is used on. He is wanted by Tynacorp because his absorbency is too effective, and as a result makes people Way, way too dry. He originally escaped when One day he got high and just sort of wandered off. He is 17, in towel years, and a noted racist.
