First, a disclaimer: Lyoto Machida is 100 percent focused on his upcoming fight with Ryan Bader.

But should Machida be victorious, Machida's manager, Ed Soares, has an idea about the ex-champ's next step.

"If Lyoto wins and (Mauricio) 'Shogun' (Rua) wins, maybe make them the coaches of the next Brazilian 'TUF,' and have them fight the rubber match," Soares told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

Ex-champs Machida and Rua fight alongside each other on the FOX-televised main card of UFC on FOX 4, which takes place Saturday at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Rua fights veteran Brandon Vera in the main event while Machida vs. Bader serves as the co-main.

It probably wouldn't be that bad of an idea, each guy could use another win to really be a #1 contender. I don't think Rua should be warranted a title shot if he beats Vera.

Agreed..Both should win on Saturday and I think they wanna give Jones a layoff if he wins against Hendo, so would be a good #1 contender fight and tv show.

Interesting. I would have thought that they would be pushing for Lyoto to get a title shot if he beat Bader. I mean, considering there was talk of Shogun possibly getting one if he beat Vera and a Machida win over Bader would be better than a Shogun win over Vera. Also, Machida was much more competitive in his match with Jones.

I wouldn't mind Shogun-Machida as TUF coaches fighting after the season with the winner earning a title shot. That would possibly give someone like Gus, Davis, or possibly Tex to earn a title shot in the meantime.... or just to give Jones some time off as was mentioned.

In no way do I want to see this fight. Shogun already beat Lyoto twice in my opinion. Not to mention last time Shogun knocked Machida into another lifetime!!!!!

I'd much rather see Machida/Evans rematch

Don't sleep on the masta Bader!

I rather Rua fight Evans because that fight was suppose to happen but never did, and I still want to see it!

i would like to see this fight. i thought shogun won the first fight too but in reality the score is 1-1. they both would make really good coaches imo. i dont think shogun would KO lyoto like he did in the second fight. with the exception of the hendo/shogun fight neither of them has set the octagon on fire in their last few fights. settling the score after they are coaches is a good idea to me

Everyone gets clipped, just ask GSP. I dont think its in anyway indicative of a third fight.

As far as marketing I would think the fight makes great sense for brazilian viewing, not to mention they could also dub it for american viewing.

The last time they fought, Machida didn't feint or disengage nearly as much. He went out there trying to prove a point, and engaged in the pocket against someone clearly better than him there.

If they fight a third time, hopefully he learns from that mistake.

To be fair to Shogun.... Lyoto was playing a good game with his offense, Shogun made a great adjustment not working his kicks and mostly using loopy punches, and on top of all of this Shogun dropped Lyoto but had to use vicious GnP to actually put him out once he fell.

Pookie is correct though imo

I kind of agree. Shogun really has Machida's number. But I'd much rather see Jones/Machida II than Jones/Shogun II - for the simple reason Shogun was utterly obliterated by Bones. Machida outstruck Bones before he got caught, and got further than anyone in recent memory. Though by that Stephen Bonnar made it to decision so he gets next shot (sarcasm)
