The team that guided UFC heavyweight Shane Carwin to mixed martial arts success should flank him as coaches on "The Ultimate Fighter 16."

Carwin and manager Jason Genet of Ingrained Media today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that Trevor Wittman, Nate Marquardt, Pat Barry, Leister Bowling and Loren Landlow have been targeted for his staff on the reality show.

Taping begins next month for 'TUF 16,' which debuts on FX on Sept. 7. While the show's finale is set for December in Las Vegas, a date hasn't been marked for a season-ending fight between Carwin and opposing coach Roy Nelson.

Carwin's selections include Wittman, who is the head coach at Grudge Training Center where Carwin trains alongside a bevy of standouts including Duane "Bang" Ludwig and Eliot Marshall.

Among the active fighters selected to accompany Carwin is Marquardt, who recently became the Strikeforce welterweight champion, and Barry, a popular UFC heavyweight and former K-1 kickboxer.

I do! He's funny as fuck and has no shame. He also is nice and personable to fans. Watch him kick the punch bag at a fair, or singing in a car with CroCop - everything he does is in good spirit and entertaining. Including his fights (even the ones he loses)

WAR PAT BARRY!

Yeah, let's watch him in a diaper and wear his sunglasses upside down.

I think some of the stuff is too much from some of these guys. But that's just me, I'm at a point where I only care to see some of these guys fight and that's it.

I want to see who Big Country calls in for Coaches, Forrest? Hardy?

I would love to see Big Country and Pat Barry start mouthing off at one another, just because I don't know what they would say or how it would go down. A serious Pat Barry? A angry Big Country?

I think this season will be better than the Lesnar vs. JDS and Cruz vs. Faber seasons, as far as the lols go.

Anyone remember the nurse and Koscheck? Kos and GSP was the last good season.imo(also had a good stable of fighters)

Shane Carwin will make a good coach. Former D2 wrestler, comes from a good camp with good training partners also possesses good hands, highly intelligent in and out of the cage and former interim champ. But I still can't understand Roy Nelson as a coach. No offense to Roy he is a tough cat but jesus he was just on the show 2 years ago as a contestant and hasn't even fought for the title. But whatever I'm sure Dana White has his reasons why he selected BC opposite of Carwin.

Coaching and fighting are two different worlds. Look at some of the very best coaches and trainers in the MMA world....most of them have never even been in a real MMA fight. Coaching and fighting/...two different things.

I wonder if anyone will have the cajones to join the cast as the strength and conditioning coach for team Nelson
