The heavily hyped UFC debut of former Bellator middleweight champ Hector Lombard was an utter failure, and UFC president Dana White thinks it may be time for the former Olympic judoka to consider a new weightclass.

After Lombard turned in a lackluster effort against Tim Boetsch at Saturday night's UFC 149 event, the UFC boss said the stocky middleweight should at least consider dropping to 170 pounds.

"Lombard maybe should fight at 170 pounds," White said. "He made 185 easily. He's short and wide, but I think he could make 170."

I know I said set up Munoz v Lombard on another thread but I would love to see Hector Lombard v Wanderlei Silva just for shits and giggles

Maybe lose some of that muscle, idk if he could make 170.

His problem was that he just didn't do much.

It almost looked like he thought he was too cool

Probably the biggest letdown for a highly anticipated boutsince Diaz vs Condit, but IMO this was even worse. I'm not even sure if Boetsch landed a single punch the entire bout...scored a handful of flicking leg kicks though.which I'm not sure how that wins you a fight...not that Lombard did any better. He just stood there waiting for Boetsch to engage...at least he scored a few takedowns and probably the most significant strike in the bout. If ever there was a case for a draw, this would have been it.

I'm sure he could make WW, but that's the last thing I'd be thinking about right now. He has to learn to cut off the cage, because not everyone is going to engage in a toe to toe battle with him.

And people think this guy can challenge Anderson??

Silva would dance around this guy and make him look foolish in route to an early KO victory.

Looked almost like he came out for a sparring session. No sense of urgency. Not sure what happened to make him lose his aggression, maybe he was worried about gassing or getting taken down?

No debate here

im so glad the lombard hype train was derailed. i think with the coaching and planning lombard could reassess himself and be a pretty decent name in the ufc. maybe a fighter like koscheck, still a great fighter but will never hold the belt.

Maybe with the step up in competition Lombard will step up his game... UFC either makes or breaks a fighter. Usually it breaks them
