“I’ve been thinking about going down to middleweight lately. I haven’t totally made up my mind. It’s something I’m going to think about a little more in the coming months and see where my body’s at, but I’m definitely giving it serious consideration. The odds of me moving down to 185 are 50-50 or better.”
…
“The last thing I want to do is move down and become half the athlete I am at 205. That’s something that happened to me while wrestling in college (at Michigan State). I cut too much weight, and if I had competed one weight class higher I would have had a better career.
A move to 185 will be permanent. But what I’ve been thinking about also is that I’m one of the top contenders at 205, so there really is no reason for me to move other than fighting some different people. At 205 I fight tough guys anyway. Jon Jones is a tough dude.
I’m a 205-pound fighter and the reason I’ve been successful is that I have attributes that, being a smaller guy, I’m able to bring, like having the speed advantage, things like that. It’s something I might not necessarily have at 185. That’s something I have to think about as well.”

I personally think Rashad is fine at LHW but I would like to see him face Anderson so I'm not against the move down to MW

Yes, we all know by now that Rashad can excel at LHW. But he seems small at LHW. I think he'd do better at MW because he'd have a size and speed advantage, imo...

Does anyone think Rashad would also be kind of small for MW?
Against a guy like Sonnen and Weidman? Though, would match up good in size against some of the others, like a Munoz.
Either way, Idc. I like the potential matchups at LHW and rematchs there for him too. Machida, Griffin.

A Machida rematch would be cool but I have little interest in another scrap with Griffin. Rashad is just a bad matchup for Forrest

Rashad could have some success at Middleweight. But imo he won't get the title as long as Silvas got it.
Rashad is a wrestler who likes to trade with guys that are superior in that department. If he would just look for the takedown more I think he'd have a shot at the title

People say he was beating Rashad until Rashad TKO'd him. I can't remember much of the fight, though.

It went something like this, crisp jab crisp jab crisp jab lazy jab Forrest is dropped by a giant hook and is now in guard lazily defending and now he's knocked the fuck out.

Forrest is too slow for someone as fast as Rashas, imo. As evidenced by their previous fight. Nice summary .

I would be all about this move. He shouldn't have to drop all that much mass to make the cut, and if he cuts down on some muscle he will only get more quick. I really hope he does it and makes a run at the belt. Edit: While we're at it perhaps Pat Barry should just drop down as well. 5'11" is simply too small for the current HW roster.

I say do it. Jones outclassed him and probably wont lose the title any time soon (although I'd like to see Hendo knock him out)

I think Rashad should drop down to middleweight and test the waters. I mean this guy fought the Ultimate Fighter at heavyweight! Evans smaller frame would be great for middleweight if he keeps his strength and power.

I would bet jones will move up in the next 2 years or so if he stays active as he has been though as well.

Rashad would be great challenge for Anderson.
He's got the same takedown ability as Chael but he's a much better striker and grappler.
