Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight contenders Roy Nelson and Shane Carwin will serve as coaches on the 16th season of "The Ultimate Fighter," and they'll meet in a season-ending fight in the show's live finale.
UFC president Dana White exclusively revealed the coaches' selections to USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) on Wednesday.
"TUF," the UFC's long-running reality series, returns to FX in September, and taping begins next month. FX also will air the live finale from Las Vegas in December.
"This is going to be a very interesting dynamic between these two heavyweights," White said. "They both have huge punching power and great chins, but outside of the octagon, they couldn't be any more different.

Meh. Should be a good fight, but not interested in the choice for coaches.

I thought he told Stephan Bonnar no to a Griffin vs Bonnar TUF, because "we usually do champions".
I think it will be an awesome matchup, sick KO power vs the chin that can't be gotten to...but as coaches I'm just not sure they're the ideal candidates.

Mixed feelings about this. Fight should be good, but I don't think Carwin or Roy will be able to produce entertaining tv. I hope so though, would have prefered Bonnar and Griffin.

Wow. I didn't see this coming at all. Great fight but I don't know how I feel about them being the TUF coaches. I'm a big fan of Nelson though and Carwin seems like a likeable personality as well. Should be interesting.

Suprising as Dana hates Nelson.
Would rather just see them fight and again Nelson not getting any easy fights.
Idk who either of these guys train with, so idk who they would bring it. I'd probably want to be on Carwin's team as who knows how Roy trains.
"We usually do champions"
Yeah, but that crap keeps holding up the titles and some of the titles are already on hold from injuries.

Carwin and Nelson seem like great dudes, and they are great fighters. I just don't get it. It seems like an odd choice for TUF coaches. I would have preferred to see welterweight fighters coaching a heavyweight season as opposed to heavyweight fighters coaching another welterweight season!

They should give TUF a rest for a while. The rate they put these shows out now its no wonder the viewers are declining.

Good glad its not a champ as twenty said because it just holds up the title. Anyhow they really dont pick the title holder, besides this past season and season 12 you'd have to go back to season 7 for that.

Same feeling for me. They need to stop mass producing, or do a comeback season. God knows a ton of fighters out there that have been cut.

i love it! Shane & Roy are 2 guys that the UFC's "everyman" fans love & as was said before, there is no hold up on the belt.

A comeback season is long overdue imo. So many guys to choose from.
