Whether intentional or not, former UFC light-heavyweight champion Rashad Evans certainly got fans talking when he said he wanted to "pick a fight" with current middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva following this past Saturday's UFC 148 event.

But Evans' camp today pumped the brakes on a move down in weight.

"He has no plans to drop to 185," manager Glenn Robinson of Authentic Sports Management today told MMAjunkie.com via text.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed. If he wants to stay at 205 and feels he's best there then I'm all for that too.

altghough he would have had some pretty interesting fights ate 185. Sonnen, Belfort, Munoz, Belcher etc

Agreed. Evans vs. Silva is probably the biggest selling fight they could put on at Middleweight for Silva tbh. I wouldn't be surprised to see it announced later on.

Silva/Evans would be a win/win for me. Silva loses, great! Evans get KTFO, great!

He's a long term LHW IMO....he's just lost to the Champ but took him to a decision! There is no reason for a man to change weight classes just because you didn't win the title. There are still some interesting match ups for him at LHW for sure.

I'm with you jae, he is still a legit LHW and could easily get another title shot. I think he would fair better in a rematch with Jon if he went in with a better game plan.

I would be excited to see him move down too though, he would be a monster at MW.

Rashad could give jones a few problems if he could get the takedown and keep the fight there.

Standing with Jones shouldn't be an option

Then why ask for a fight with Anderson? Oh you want him to come play at your weight. Anderson is the P4P best fighter in the world you want to fight him go find him its not his job to find u.

That same logic didn't apply to Fedor when he didn't sign with the UFC

Thats different. Fedor wasn't in the UFC, but the UFC had the top talent. There were also contracts that kept him from fighting in the UFC. Fedor fought in Pride when they had the best HW in the world and gain his status as the Top P4P fighter their. When Pride folded he held on to the title for a bit but it didn't take long before people put Anderson ahead of him.

So basically its a matter of Dana not recognizing fedor as the #1 hw at the time. Correct? Contracts I wouldn't expect to be a big deal since chuck went to pride in the hopes of facing wanderlie.of course he didn't make it which was embarrassing for the UFC and I can make an educated guess as that played a big role in not letting UFC heavies out of the org

No it has nothing to do with Dana. I'm a little confused where we are going with this. Rashad calls Anderson out but he wants it on his terms. I suppose HWs were calling Fedor out and wanting it to be in the UFC but they had no other choice they had exclusive contracts. Fedor and M1 wanted to copromote but that made no sense for the UFC to do that. Fedor was on the outside looking in with almost no one to fight (fights he needed to continue to be #1). Rashad is welcome to drop to 185 with no problem and would have a crack at Anderson with one win maybe even a instant title shot.

I was kind of hoping he would. Mix up some match ups, see some new faces against each other
