UFC president Dana White has nothing bad to say about Fedor Emelianenko. Still.
While the fighter's management team has drawn the scorn of White numerous times in recent years, he maintains he has no problem with the recently retired Emelianenko. Still, White regrets he could never get Emelianenko booked for a fight with a certain ex-champion under the UFC banner. Emelianenko, who retired with a 34-4 record (and three-fight win streak) following a June 21 knockout of Pedro Rizzo, began serious negotiations with the UFC in 2009. But they famously flopped, and Emelianenko later signed with Strikeforce (which the UFC acquired a little more than a year later). At the time, White desperately wanted to book his reigning heavyweight champion – WWE crossover star Brock Lesnar – against Emelianenko for a pay-per-view blockbuster. White went as far as to say the Emelianenko signing and immediate title shot were "imminent" just prior to Lesnar's win over Frank Mir at UFC 100. But it never happened. Emelianenko eventually flamed out of Strikeforce with three straight losses and returned to fight overseas this past year. "Obviously, I would have loved to make that fight with him and Brock at that point in time," White told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "It would have been awesome. But it obviously didn't happen."

Yeah, that woulda been a big payday for the UFC and a pretty big day for us to see. I feel tho that it wouldd have been a lot like the Lesnar/Velasquez fight. Fedor throws heavy punches and we all know what happens when Lesnar gets popped good

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that even at that point in his career Fedor would have wrecked Lesnar.
Unfortunately I'll never be able to prove it to the haters.

You'll certainly get no arguments from me. I'd take Fedor all day, then and now. I'd still take Fedor against most of the UFC Heavyweights. As for Brock, I think he could have become truly great, but I just don't think he was a natural fighter. A natural athlete, a natural competitor, yes. He had the athletic ability and stature to ruin most mortals. But I think he just coasted on that. When he wasn't able to bully people, he folded. If he would have got with a top camp, maybe slowed his role, who knows where he'd be today.

I'm with you. After one Fedor blast the fight would have gone like the Overeem and Velasquez fights.

Guess I'm in the minority, I would have seen the #1 title defense Brock doing the same thing to Fedor that he did to Mir...or what Bigfoot did to Fedor. Just a bit too much bigger and very good at resting all of that mass on their opponents. Brock went right in at Cain, but when Cain proved he could get back to his feet with little trouble, Lesnar had no idea what to do when the cards were down.

No disrespect to Fedor but Brock would have mauled him. Would have been like the Bigfoot beating only worse IMHO

sorry but Brock has no where near the top game that Bigfoot does. Brock would not be able to pass guard, let alone mount Fedor, without getting armbarred

Mir has a pretty solid defense from his back too, but that's kind of irrelevant. The point is that Fedor not fighting Brock (or any other top 5 UFC HW) really leaves a giant ? in the air. The blame regarding that falls entirely on M-1. I have my opinions about who Fedor would or wouldn't beat both in his prime and now, but none of them can be substantiated because M-1 refused to do the largest UFC deal in history because they weren't allowed to co-promote.

Lesnar would try to take the center, throw a weird sloppy kick and as he's throwing the goofy looking kick Fedor would come over the top and clock Lesnar.
Lesnar would then retreat in a goofy fashion, slip on something, turtle and Fedor would pound him out right there...

Great logic, entirely possible, not fact. Carwin did a pretty good job of pounding on him and couldn't put him away. I've seen Brock look dominant and I've seen Brock look like Bob Sapp. I've seen Fedor look unbeatable, and I've seen Fedor look like an extremely undersized HW who get's tossed around by bigger guys. The only way to have known who would have won that fight would be if the fight had happened and it didn't because of M-1. Fedor has never been scared to take a fight. M-1 just wanted to be sure and protect their investment.
