"Thank you to everybody for the tweets... I have been put on the main card for UFC 149.... You guys are awesome!!"
The fighters first met in an opening round matchup on "TUF 11" that Ring won via hotly contested majority decision. However, McGee later won the reality-show tournament when he got a second life with an injury-replacement slot.

I did not care for Nick Ring while he was on TUF. He did not seem to have the confidence needed to be a good fighter, will of the warrior . Also his nickname did not help either, however he has definitely changed my perspective on him. He is a legitimate fighter and will give Court McGee a hell of a time. This is not a fight I was hoping to see but once I read the headline I got a little pumped. I think this will be a great test for both fighters as well as a crowd pleaser.

Being a hero gets you put on the main card.
Or the fact that the card is weak, it seems like the best option.
I expect Court to win again and get the decision this time. Unless Ring outgrapples McGee

Whenever cards get revamped like this the UFC should offer the same deal they did for this last card in Brazil, 3 day window to get money back.
