Following his first-round knockout of Mike Russow at UFC 147 on Saturday night, Werdum said he was ready to take on heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos -- should the UFC desire. However, if the promotion has other plans, “Vai Cavalo” has no problem fighting again before challenging for the title.
“For sure, I’m close [to a title shot] now. If the UFC asks, then I’m ready for sure,” Werdum told Fox Sports after his win, “but maybe [I will have] one more fight, maybe on the [Cain] Velasquez-dos Santos card. After that, if I win, maybe I will fight [the champion] in Brazil. I don’t know. I’m just here to fight.”

I almost spat out my Protein drink after reading that nonsense.
Beating two white fellas that need to wear a "Mansiere" is hardly number one contendership.
His math is off.....two-three more fights Fabricio

That's the problem with the HW Div....2-3 eins in a row and people have the ability to say that a title shot is where they are going next. This does not happen at LW or WW....if he had beaten say Cain, Mir, Overeem etc..I would hear him. Nelson was a better win IMO than Russow when stating his readiness to take on a title fight.

Depends who he faces. And could be timing with no other contenders at the moment.

I agree that he has at least 2 fights before he fights for the title. He's only been back in the UFC for 2 fights.

I'm sure Russow is a good guy, but beating Russow doesnt even put you in the top 10 unless you were already there before the fight. Russow was a step down in competition from Nelson, so this fight never really made sense in the first place. He has at least two fights prior to a title shot at best. You have Cain next, maybe Comier if Cain doesnt win, then The REEM will be back - who will get a shot after one win, after that it gets a little murkier as you have a few young guns making waves.
I like either Mir, Carwin or Barnett (if he comes over) for his next opponent or possibly Struve.
