Former UFC Heavyweight champ Frank Mir took a trip up to Canada to be a celebrity guest at the Thunder Bay Sports Celebrity Dinner along with Olympian cross-country skier Ashleigh McIvor. Mir, who most recently lost in a title shot to champion Junior dos Santos at UFC 146 talked about his future with the Chronicle Journal.
Mir talked about his ambition to do color commentary and fight analysis, which is no surprise to fans who've seen him fill that role on Fuel TV and Versus. But there was a tiny bit of a surprise when he was asked about his possible pro wrestling ambitions:

If I had it my way, MMA and pro wrestling with have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

They need to stop asking boring questions like this. It would be way cooler to read a headline like "ufc star frank mir 'not opposed' to going into interracial porn" or 'not opposed' to a 3 way with ariani and brittany. Now THAT would be a story!

Lame.
Makes you wonder if Vince and Dana have this secret master plan to make more money.

I could see it. I bet WWE would pay pretty well for a storyline with Lesnar.

these guys still gotta make money and if they do it AFTER they retire then I think its a fine avenue to take. But you shouldn't be talking about it right now, you have a job to do and that is to somehow get a title shot.

I hate to be associated with wrestling fans. But your average MMA fan isn't much better...

I think Mir is an excellent commentator and would love to see him pursue that option. I think Rogan is the only one who is better. I wouldn't like to see him become involved in pro "wrestling" though. To each his own I guess.

I totally understand where Frank is coming from.
He's got a big name in the sport but it's pretty clear now that he won't be getting a title again. He's still a great fighter but he's consistently lost to top guys.
Basically his clock is ticking when it comes to big money fights in MMA.
On the other hand, he's a very large and well muscled guy. He's got a reputation as a REAL fighter. He could be successful in WWE. Pro wrestling is hard on your body too, but you can continue to make money doing it till a much later age.
This decision would make financial sense.
