Cung Le vs. Patrick Cote targeted for UFC 148 |

With Rich Franklin (28-6 MMA, 13-5 UFC) now headed to UFC 147 for a rematch with Wanderlei Silva (34-11-1 MMA, 4-6 UFC), onetime middleweight title challenger Patrick Cote (17-7 MMA, 4-7 UFC) has been tapped to fight Cung Le (7-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at UFC 148.
Multiple sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that verbal agreements have been reached for the matchup.
UFC 148 takes place July 7 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Main-card fights air live on pay-per-view while preliminary-card fights air on FX

Awesome news! Glad to see Cote back, and this is about as well as they could have done on short notice. I don't think either guy wants to see this hit the ground, so it should be fun.

Cote is my favorite fighter so I am a bit partial to him but I think this is a good matchup for Cote. Cote should be able to finish Cung on their feet. Cote does need to avoid Cung's unorthodox stand up techniques and whatnot as they are dangerous and damaging but I think Cote can handle what Cung has to offer. Cote does have a chin of granite and I have never seen anyone daze him or faze him in the slightest. I just hope this one doesn't end up on the ground with Cote on the bottom. Cung does have some wrestling experience which scares me somewhat. Cung could never finish Cote on the ground...but he might be able to hold him there in a lay and pray situation and eek out a decision in the process. if Cote ends up on top in a ground game Cung is toast. I am hoping Patrick ends this with a KO or TKO somewhere in round 1.
