Bob Sapp knows what you think of him. He reads the headlines about his "tour of surrender." He hears the talk about how disgraceful he is to the sport.

Really, all that's fine, because as long as you're talking about him, he can continue to do what he needs to do -- which happens to be losing 12 of his 13 MMA and kickboxing fights since 2011, almost all of which ended in the first round through varying levels of absurdity. But despite the circus that now surrounds Sapp, just don't ever say he throws his fights.

"Am I throwing these fights? No. Will I go into that ring and receive large amounts of damage for small paychecks? No," Sapp asserted vehemently on Monday's edition of The MMA Hour.

I don't think Sapp is throwing fights either, he definitely is taking shots to the head to make some of the claims he is making.

That's what I was thinking. Or a pioneer of turtling up.

Hes batshit crazy. That interview was insane. It started well enough then from 8 minutes in to all the way to the end Sapp is literally a crazy person(I watched the video yesterday on a different site, don't know if the time is the same). The laugh, the repeating himself multiple times, acting like a child when Ariel was trying to talk to him... Its sad to listen to but at the same time, its good for a laugh.

It's just hard for him to show much heart without Adam Sandler in his corner.

Laughable to say he his a legend, but I can't blame Sapp. It's the morons who continue to buy/watch his fights and the promoters who continue to book him that should be held responsible. Don't hate the player hate the game.

I agree If Sapp was on the undercard of this weekends UFC I wouldn't buy it. He is a joke and needs to be forced out of the cage/Ring

The 3 things you need to know:

1) Bob is not throwing the fights
2) The damage that Bob is willing to take in a fight is in direct alignment with how much the promoter is paying him.
3) The promoters are not paying him much money* (relatively speaking) these days.

So, you can make of that what you will. I guess when the people paying to see him fight stop paying to see him fight, this will end.

*30-40k per fight is the average salary he is currently receiving

30-40k isn't bad considering over the course of his 7 fight losing streak he's averaging about 1 minute 18 seconds in the ring per

I'd take those beatings for 30/40k a time.

Sapp is only making a living.

It's the promoter's who are at fault for paying him the money and putting him on their cards. However, Sapp has name value, so it's a bit of a catch 22 situation.

I see what you're saying. When someone like Anderson is getting a base of $200,000 (check, that's what almost all of his latest payouts list), Sapp getting $30-$40k isn't that much. Especially when Anderson is getting additional benefits that we don't hear about.

Still, for how long Sapp fights, how his fights seem to go, and the amount of effort he appears to put into them, $30-$40k is a ton of money. That's the equivalent of paying the McDonald's fry boy a district manager's salary.

Actually, if you add up the amount of times he fights and estimate high at $40k per fight, he's probably making a little bit more than a district manager over the course of a year.

When it comes to the money that other fighters make, comparatively speaking, Sapp makes "okay" money in MMA, but if you compare the actual workload and effort involved to the salary he commands, the dude might as well be a millionaire.
