Despite his quick knockout loss to Tom Lawlor at Tuesday's UFC on FUEL TV 3 event, the 36-year-old Canadian middleweight isn't calling it quits.

"To set record straight ... [MacDonald] never said he's retiring," officials stated via the UFC Canada Twitter account. "Tough break last night. Hope to see him back soon."

In a FUEL TV-televised main card bout at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va., MacDonald suffered his third loss in four fights. Lawlor connected on a left hand to the chin and a right to the temple to drop MacDonald and pick up the TKO victory in just 50 seconds. He also earned a $40,000 "Knockout of the Night" bonus with the effort.

Prior to the fight, MacDonald hoped he could pick up a win and get booked for UFC 149, which takes place in his home country on July 21 in Calgary, Alberta. With the knockout loss, MacDonald likely faces a decent-sized medical suspension, which would make the UFC 149 plans unlikely.

I'm not one to tell ANYONE to retire, but he doesn't belong in the UFC that's for sure... I really question this guys heart, he seems to fold everytime someone hits him in the face at all.

I thought he might be cut along with some of the others from last night's card.

Am I the only one who though MacDonald took a dive last night? I am not saying the fight was fixed, but he took one shot and he seemed like he wanted out of there. To me it seemed like that shot to the back of his head actually was a non knockout blow to the back of the neck. He just kind of used that momentum to throw himself on the ground. If you look, he is moving his feet the entire time. I am satisfied with my 11 points, but damn.... No heart from MacDonald. He definitely isn't UFC material.

Absolutely not, i thought he did as well... He took a straight to the beak, then a little tap to the back of the head and sprawled out face first on the canvas, got up, laughed and collected his money.

You're not the only one who thought he looked for easy cash last night.

Glad you caught that Hendo! I was hoping the tweets today would read "MacDonald didn't retire, however he has been cut from the UFC."

I was pissed watching that this morning. I can't ever recall seeing such an obvious dive in all of MMA before (save for Bob Sapp), let alone the UFC. That was the last thing I wanted to see, let alone on a televised UFC main card.

it was my opinion that he got KOd flat out & the punch that lawlor landed when he was on the ground woke him up. could be wrong.

my friend says when you get KOd that much, you're just happy to actually wake up

I don't think he was KO'd at all, the way he fell looked like he kind of took a dive. I don't get how he INSTANTLY came to and started laughing... usually you're on wobbly legs, but he honestly popped up like he did the HBK kick-up mid match.

I agree Shane. I don't want to scream conspiracy, nor do I think this fight was set up with the UFC paying MacDonald to get knocked out. It just seems like MacDonald thought that was the case, because he did not look like he was there to put up much of a fight.

If he was legitimately ko'ed, that's my bad. But I think Mac knew he was going down sooner or later, and just threw the fight to save himself any more damage.

I don't think it was fixed either.

I think he got knocked out and woke up quickly. Flash knockout sorta thing.

The smiling and laughing was probably out of frustration. Like "damn, that sucks."

Maybe? I don't know, but if i got "knocked out" knowing that would probably be my final straw in MMA's biggest company, it would be hard to find a smile on my face...

I'd be pissed!
