Nick Diaz was all set to fight multiple time world champion Brazilian jiu-jitsu player Braulio Estima in the main event of the World Jiu-Jitsu Expo tonight (May 12, 2012) in Long Beach, California.
But first he had to show up.
Estima showed up, had a tough weight cut, but made weight for their bout, which was the headliner of the inaugural event that was being put online via a pay-per-view stream for $9.95, but Diaz didn't.
Instead, fans were left scratching their heads. After all, the bout was supposed to be for charity. There had been reports throughout the night that Diaz hadn't shown up yet, but most just assumed he was being fashionably late.
When he completely no-showed the main event, the fans in attendance and around the world were justifiably livid.

Why does he still have fans?
because we don't have 10 dollars to spend on a BJJ ppv!

His purse for the fight was supposed to go to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital charity.
Just to make his no show that little bit worse.
I'm curious to hear the various excuses his fanboys have prepared though.......

lol, so true. I didn't pay for the thing so I'm not upset about it and I'm still a fan but it was definitely a douche move. The worst part is this event is meant for charity and now a shitload of people are going to be demanding their money back and this will make everyone involved look bad. If he ever bailed on a ufc fight this way I'd be pretty pissed.

It was all just a scheme to make his fans donate to charity. Thats the best fanboy excuse i can muster.

From the diaz bros facebook page, it looks like he is claiming that 1) The promoter wasn't going to donate to charity like he had been led to believe, and 2) The promoter changed the rules regarding the weigh in.

That kind of all depends on whether he still donates money or not.
The real people that Diaz shit on was the fans, not necessarily saint jude's

According to folks on another forum, that's not a legit Diaz facebook page. The weigh in rules were the same as any other bjj competition and why would the promoter be responsible for donating Nick's purse?
Why would Nick's coach and brother have been at the expo all day if the thing was shady and the fight was off? Why did Nick's coach tweet that he didn't known where Nick was or wtf was going on when the match was supposed to start?
Sounds to me like Nick got cold feet and his fanboys are doing spin control.

Agreed.
I would like to see Nick publicly make a donation now as a way of apologising.
