Braulio Estima came in 9lbs over in his weigh-in for his match against Nick Diaz.

Braulio Estima had originally agreed to compete at 180lbs. Nick Diaz has made the agreed weight, while Braulio has notified the camp that he will not be able to make the agreed upon weight tomorrow before the match. The Gracie Fighter camp responded by allowing Estima to weigh in at 185lbs the day of the match, but Estima says he can no longer cut anymore weight though as of now is expected to attempt to make 185 tomorrow morning.

Braulio weighing in at 189 when agreeing on 180 sounds more like a competitive "mistake" than anything else.

Here's an interview from April 9th, 2012 (one month ago) regarding Braulio's upcoming MMA debut later this year:

Stephie Daniels: What weight class do you plan on fighting at?

Braulio Estima: My objective is to fight at welterweight. Right now, I'm 187-pounds so I'm planning to only fight at welterweight.

His walk around weight was lower than the lowest possible weight he can cut to one month later? Obviously bullshit.

I hope it was maybe an injury that affected his ability to do cardio that kept him from making weight and not that he was looking for a competitive advantage or I'll lose a lot of respect for him. Especially considering what he weighed one month ago when this matchup was already scheduled. Unprofessional.

This is getting interesting. I wonder if kind of thing happens a lot. Is there any money to speak of here, would Diaz get 20% if Estima wins or something?

Braulio cut the weight and came in at 180lbs this morning. Unfortunately, Nick decided to leg it once he realized he was about to get tapped. Pretty sad when Braulio was standing on the mat and Renzo had to inform the crowd that Nick pussed out and left the building.

Weak Nick, very weak.

No. Both purses were promised to charity anyway.
